THE SHORT: prices are right there with the big stores but the customer service can't be compared. The store is deceptively big. They have the main items for almost every department. They have knowledgeable boys working there which is great that they let young guys there. But they are teenagers still so when they get talking or want to leave exactly at closing, you're def getting a bit of an attitude
THE LONG: As a "Ma and Pa" store I thought J&J would be overpriced and carry only basic items, but I was way wrong. 1st SIZE- There is more than meets the eye. The store is a remodeled house with an edition on the back. They have a basement and warehouse for additional supplies and repair services. 2nd PRICE- some things are more, some are less but most are on par with Lowes and HD. EXAMPLE- I got a simple square for $3.45 and Lowes had the exact one for $5. Receptacles for $.69, and 40ft extension cord $12.95 3rd CATALOG- they have most major items for home repair and improvements plus lawn and garden. They have power tool accessories , handheld tools, and supplies in each major department (e.g. switches, gangboxes, outlets, Romex, strippers volt meters etc. for electrical) their back section is all bolts, screws, nails, lags, chains, wire etc.in various sizes and lengths. Plus their nails and such come in normal quantities or small projects. Because I don't always need a whole box of 3" galvanized nails. So a 12pk is great! 4th SERVICE- everyone has been super nice to me and I've received great advice and guidance for my projects.
Unlike HD and now Lowes, where no one will help or the person you get isn't from that department and no one knows where they went, so you wait while...
Read moreI rented a U-haul from J&J. Ethan was very helpful. No complaints about him. I returned the U-haul on full tank of gas and because they were so nice, I figured I would just drop it off and they email me the receipt. 20 minutes later. I am at work in a meeting. One of the guys called me (not Ethan) and said we need another card because you owe $78.00 because you shorted us on gas. I was like, I filled the tank up before I dropped it off. The guy said not you didn't, it's not full. I said, yes I did. They guy said, when you left the lot you had a full tank of gas and you didn't bring it back on full. We went back and forth. I was furious because I know the needle was on full. He continued to argue with me and demand a card number to process the $78.00. I said I'm coming there because you guys are ripping me off. I get to the location - the guy is on the phone with u - haul. COME TO FIND OUT I WAS RIGHT ALL ALONG. THE NEEDLE ON THE TRUCK WAS MOVING SLOW AND IT ENDED UP BEING A FULL TANK OF GAS. I'm curious how many people they ripped off because there needle is slow on the truck? Lesson learned. Take pictures and don't take their word. Check it out yourself because they are rip offs with the U-haul. It was a complete...

The owner Tony does shady business when he sees that competition is going to get customers because his pricing is unreasonable he calls and threaten them that they will lose his business in the future causing them to go back on their word. Today I was in the process of ordering mulch from his supplier BRITTON INDUSTRIES and because they were willing to give me a better price he called them to let them know he would stop ordering from them going forward causIng them to cancel on my order and offer an apology stating they did not want to upset their clients.
Well Tony if you practice ethical business people wouldn't feel the need to look else where.
If you can AVOID AT ALL COST there are better more ethical business owners. VERY SHADY PLACE OF BUSINESS! DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!
What they are doing is illegal they aren't suppose to talk price and force customer to have only one option. Guess what better business bureau...
