Crystal Towne — Local services in Murfreesboro

My daughter and I detoured on a recent Arkansas trip to visit Crater of Diamonds and to try mining for gems. Crystal Towne was recommended to me as a place to stop before the state park and rent our equipment. We had no idea what we were doing -- literally none -- and hadn't done any research on how to mine at at the park. We were totally clueless on what we were about to experience and were just kinda rolling with it. Luckily Ashley was the real gem of the day. She briefed us on what we'd be doing and gave us the equipment for what I considered to be a reasonable price (it included a wheelbarrow which turned out to be the envy of many other clueless tourists we quickly learned -- because hauling dirt and rocks around is actually really heavy). She also greeted me by name when I called in for help from the mine field (yes, I did that). After a couple of hours of "mining," Ashley was not surprised to see us roll back up with a bucket of dirt and ask for help. She helped us sort the rocks from the mud and identify our haul, and kept us laughing the whole time. Highly, highly recommend the experience at Crystal Towne.

One pro tip (because we're pros now), if you do rent the whole kit, including the wheelbarrow -- remember you have to fit the wheelbarrow in your vehicle BOTH ways. Related: even if you rinse everything off when you leave Crater of Diamonds, you'll still have surprise mud so bring old blankets to...

DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GO SEE JACK at Crystal Towne! We are driving through from Houston and wanted to try our luck at diamond crater with the kids. We saw Crystal Towne and decided to stop. SO GLAD we did. Jack was so friendly and made the experience 10x more enjoyable. It was cheap to rent everything, and his stuff is far better then what you can rent at diamond crater, and he was so nice and offered to drive it all over for us since it wouldn't fit in our packed van. We got an awesome large heavy duty gorilla wagon, shovels, gloves....he also noticed my husband had a cast on and went and got him a special full arm glove so he could protect his cast. He also went out with us and took us to his spot where he had a hose hooked up and so we could do everything right there next to him instead of having to carry it all the way over to the water stations the park provides. Myself, nor my kids ages 4-8, would of lasted very long if we had to do that. Having water right there was awesome. Plus his spot was shady most of the time which was also a huge aid to us all lasting much longer. We'd watched a few YouTube videos to try and learn what exactly to do/look for but we never would of really known what to do without jack.
