Valley River Humane Society Thrift Store — Local services in Murphy

Back in December, before Christmas, we went in to look around. Found a few items, and my missing cat locked in the cage in front of the store. Even when I showed pictures of the same cat from my phone, the lady at the register was very rude and arrogant. I didn't get to get my cat either, she wouldn't even tell me what I needed to do. I wrote a check for my items, $3.21. Due to an accidental oversight and an auto draft that came out twice, the check wouldn't go through. Received a call in mid February from a lady and I apologized, told her I would be by ASAP. Then a barage of sickness hit our family. I forgot that week. Had plans on going by and taking care of it, plus there $10 processing fee, but before I could get there they had pressed charges and a warrant was issued!! I understand they need to be paid for services or goods rendered. But isn't taking a warrant out over $3.21 a little bit absurd? I was taken before a magistrate, the deputy, and all involved couldn't believe the amount the warrant was issued over. I will go by and make this right today. A follow up call by someone who works there might have been a better choice than that warrant. We will be removing this establishment from our thrift store...

Not only is this store great and the staff are nice, this is where I got my pet cat Bumper from in December of 2020! He's so important to me because my pet cat and my best friend when I had none died back in June of 2019. He passed far earlier than he was supposed to of a blockage and I still grieve him even though it might seem too long ago. Even though I miss my buddy from the bottom of my heart, I'll see him again one day. But being able to have Bumper is such a joy and makes me so happy to have a new friend! Thank...

Expect high prices here. Women's shirts $4-$10 for regular worn tee shirts. Wow. Pretty soon people aren't going to thrift anymore and head back to retail. I mean I'd rather buy an new Old Navy shirt for $10 than pay a thrift store the same price. Other items priced high too. Apparently they research donated items and have a "boutique" section.
