Mike's Meat Market — Local services in Muscle Shoals

I called in an order for 20 pork chops for my FIL’s 88th birthday. They told me they would call when they were ready. They never called, so I just showed up at 4:30 since I knew they closed at 5pm. The lights were off and the doors were locked. I check Facebook and see this post. After trying to call them, I decided to post beneath their comment.

They responded to my comment and said something like. Yes ma’am we’re sorry. It was a misunderstanding on our side.

I replied and said something like - I appreciate your apology and I understand mistakes happen, but that doesn’t help my current situation. Thankfully Publix had what I needed.

They promptly deleted the entire thread. (I didn’t get screen shots of the last two posts referenced above before they deleted everything). That was it. No - we’re so sorry we inconvenienced you and put you in a bind - how can we make this right - nothing.

After talking to my sister-in-law, I learned this same thing happened to her they last time she tried to use them for a big order!!

I share this - so that if you have a big order and an important event - don’t rely on them to honor the order. And don’t think they’ll make it right if they make a mistake.

Have bought from them before and was very pleased. Today I went in to purchase some meat and asked that they separate the ground beef into 2 pound packages. I was told they couldn't do that bc it was sold in bulk. I was very disappointed because as the customer I assumed it wouldn't be a problem. They have the equipment and means to do it so didn't think it would be a big deal. I have just purchased a deep freezer and planned on spending a few hundred dollars filling it up. I now have to try and find a new butcher around here. They were very nice about it but still left dissatisfied and upset because I have used them in the past and...

It is no longer owned by the same people when I made the previous review. The prices are not as good, same with the sales. The quality has seemed to go down as well. I used to make it a point to be here once a month to get all my meat, but now with prices and quality it is not something I go out of my way for.
