4-6-22 Muskogee, OK store. Okay, I believe in second, third, chances and all, but I AM SOOOO DONE with Office Depot. Today, trying to get my new office organized, I go up to the counter with my cart to check out and I tell the cashier that I would like to open one of the wireless keyboards just to check and make sure it was what I wanted since there wasn't one on display and she told me no. "If you open it without paying, it's considered theft." Mind you, I'm standing AT the checkout counter with multiple items and ASKING, not just opening things in the aisle by myself acting all suspicious, so yes, that was highly offensive. She said I could return it if it wasn't what I wanted, but I don't live or work in town so why not let me take a second to make sure I'm taking home what I want? I just left everything. I'll get what I need somewhere else from now on. Common Sense, at Office Depot, is out of stock. (Side note: I left there and went to Hobby Lobby and had a question about a sewing notion and the lady who helped me said, "Do you want me to open it and show you?" lol I didn't need her to but thought the customer service comparison was funny. Too bad Hobby Lobby doesn't sell office supplies).
A year ago: Ordered two identical office chairs online. Once we assembled and sat in one of them, we knew they wouldn't work. We took them back to the store so we could check out replacements - and also sit-before-we-bought. Sounds easy enough, right? Nope. The first thing the cashier tells me is they can't take back the chairs unless they carry them. (Uh, ordered from Office Depot online and can't return to Office Depot store?) Ridiculous. Sometimes you don't want to/or have the time to wait for the whole pickup and reorder thing... Lucky me, the chairs we ordered were carried at that store so I got my refund, but doubt I'll be ordering online from Office...
Read moreI bought a printer that was on clearance for $279. Epson ET-4750 ink jets. It was a floor model and did not come in a box. When asked if the printer worked the employee assured us that it did. When asked if we took it and it did not work, would we be able to bring it back and get a refund, we were told that we had 14 days to do so. The printer is receiving the information and printing blank pages. We have contacted every technical support line available with no success so we called Office Depot and explained the situation (we bought this on Friday and it is the following Tuesday) and were told that we buy as is. That is not what we were promised. I don't even know how a business like this could even make a sale of a defective product of almost $300 and then tell us too bad. I own a business manufacturing cabinets. I would never sell my customers a defective cabinet and then say, too bad. It wasn't until we threatened to have our lawyer contact them (as we are running behind on our business due to not being able to do our job after disconnecting a smaller printer in order to print more and at a faster speed with this bigger printer that does not work) that the woman said she would see about getting us a refund. We've yet to hear back. It's only been 30 minutes so far. I will definitely let you know...
Read moreTerrible customer service. First person wasn't a manager, spent 10 minutes on hold while they went to see if they had product in stock (thermal paper rolls for a label printer, a pretty common item); they didn't. Told them we wanted them to get that, he said he didn't know how but didn't offer to get the manager; we had to ask for him to get the manager. Manager (Kate? Kay?) gets on, tells us we have to physically come into the store to ask them to order the product, even though our business has purchase order systems setup to pay for anything we buy. When asked if all of those cases of PostIt Notes they have simply laying around were ordered by people coming into the store, she got huffy and said, "Of course not, don't be ridiculous..." and told me she was going to get someone else to talk to me. I asked, "Aren't you the manager?" she said "Yes!" and then hung up on me. This is pretty much the only (monopoly) actual office supply store in town and they treat customers like redheaded...
