I wish I had read the 1 star reviews before allowing them to service our heat pump. We were having no issues, scheduled a maintenance service call, tech shows up and tells us that the heating strip wire is bad causing it to short the fuse when in aux heat. The fix is a $700 WiFi Fast Sat. This felt very much like a sleazy sales tactic considering we had zero issues with our aux heat and I could show that on my thermostat app proving it had worked all winter long Dec, Jan, Feb, March and this was April 6th. Due to the gut instinct we got a second opinion the next day from a reputable company all to be told that there is not a problem, and if it was a problem there was enough wire to fix it therefore would be about a $40.00 fix! Next steps: Called office- lady was extremely nice and helpful taking my concern and asking me to leave the manager a voicemail because he needed to hear my concern. Next day get a call from a guy saying he is a manager, and he was the “manager” that was on the phone with the technician when he was at my place. He never once asked to hear my complaint instead went directly into his reason for calling was to tell me where the “misunderstanding” was. Finally when I called him out on the golden rule of thumb, the client is always right and you LISTEN first, he then clarifies he is a parts technician, not even a manager. So why say you were to start with and where is the manager I asked for a call from ?!? Talk about making an upset customer more upset wasting my time! So I asked for the manager to call me by close of business. A couple hours go by and I get an email from the manager saying he had the guy call me because he’s more technical than he the manager is but he will call me. 7:07 pm and no call from the manager. Imagine that. Side note: I spoke with the previous owner that had the unit before us to find out the truth of the history of service with Carolina Cool with the unit and as I anticipated, more lies were uncovered. These people are not ethical in their businesses practices. Consider this your warning and when you look at the Google reviews filter to one star reviews and you will notice the uptick of one star reviews in the past couple years. Read moreSeveral times over the course of a month, our heat, from a 3 year old Carrier HVAC unit, failed to come on. Each time we were fortunate to have a technician from Carolina Cool, arrive quickly to work on fixing the problem. An issue that made their job more difficult, was that sometimes our heat would come on by itself just before the technician arrived. On a recent weekend morning, Stacey arrived at our door. After an introduction and a few endearing stories, he set out (or up) into our attic to start the project. Hours passed, sometimes he’d descend the stairs to give updates, or announce he was leaving to retrieve parts, or pause to make a phone-call. After many hours, we saw him standing there holding a sliver of plastic hardly an inch in length. He said this tiny plastic plug, from one of the components, should have been removed by the manufacturer but wasn’t. We thank him for his persistence. He said, “I was not going to leave until you kicked me out and was not going to give up!” We want to thank all the technicians at Carolina Cool, all the people we talked with on the phone, and all the folks who had any involvement with our problem. In our opinion, not only was Stacey kind, considerate and genuine, his experience, persistence, knowledge, curiosity and dedication was top notch. He went above and beyond and was ultimately able to fix a very difficult, non typical problem caused by the manufacturer’s error of sending out a machine that was not really ready to function as it should have over time.
