I attended the Christine Brown book signing last night and was extremely disappointed by how the event was managed.
I followed the emailed arrival instructions exactly and was directed by two staff members to join the line. After waiting over an hour, I was about to meet the author when the marketing manager, Kerry, abruptly stopped me and a few other attendees to ask our number. Upon hearing it, she instructed us to move back in line because others behind us had lower numbers, despite the fact that we were all within the same designated group (100–200). Rather than explaining this politely, she spoke in a rude and abrasive manner that made the experience unnecessarily upsetting.
Additionally, attendees were told in advance that we could bring two outside items to be signed, but this was not honored. Instead, it was a rushed photo opportunity. Kerry hurried me through my interaction with Christine to the point where I was too anxious to even get to say a couple of words to Christine, which was very disheartening after such a long wait.
What concerned me most was seeing Kerry scold a lovely front-of-house staff member in front of attendees. This behavior was unprofessional and disrespectful.
I fully understand the need for a number system and would have gladly moved if it had been explained respectfully. However, the manner in which I and others were treated left me feeling dismissed and unwelcome. I truly understand that getting through 500 attendees is stressful for a business, but our time, money, and excitement felt invaluable.
This was meant to be a joyful event for fans, and instead it was marred by poor marketing management and unprofessional conduct. I truly hope the store reconsiders how events are run...
Read moreI drove 6 hours from Ohio to attend a book signing. I was told no outside memorabilia would be getting signed. Rules are fine by me—but nothing about that was in the email when I bought this ticket and event speakers lied saying it was stated. I’m okay with just getting my purchased book signed but Kerry, Anderson’s Marketing Manager, then crossed a moral line telling customers “if caught with memorabilia, it will be confiscated and not returned”. That is theft and illegal. You can kick out somebody, but you can’t steal their property. Threatening those actions to dedicated fans who drove from another state is dirty, felt like I was in television show Seinfeld listening to the SoupNazi.
I didn’t want to cause any scene so I kept quiet. But Kerry kept making remarks, made us uncomfortable in what was supposed to be an exciting day meeting a hero.
Unprofessional and unorganized. She expressed on the mic she was burnt out because “this is like I think my 10th big celebrity event in the last like 8 days or something”. Maybe she just had a bad week and is normally a nice person, I don’t know, but that night she really deflated the room and stomped on some dreams. Not by relaying rules, but in her...
Read moreI'm giving this a 3 star out of the kindness of my heart. Ordered two AUTOGRAPHED books. The new Bob Odenkirk book just out and the Hillary Rodham Clinton State of Terror book. The Odenkirk book looks great; a new book and SIGNED. The other book had an autographed sticker on the front but was not signed. It doesn't even look new - maybe someone returned it? The binder was well used. Called them and was told they can't possible have the author sign every book. What?? You sold me an autographed book! "We'll send you a sticker to place inside the book." I think she says it shows that the book is authentic?? Good grief. And as far as the condition of the book - well they can't guarantee the condition of a new book they receive from the publisher!! Good grief. I generously gave them 3 stars for sending the correct books and receiving them quickly plus the Odenkirk book at least is what I ordered. If you plan on ordering an AUTOGRAPHED book, make sure you call in advance to confirm that it is, in fact, truly autographed and don't expect to get a book in perfectly...
