There are ALOT of things they don’t tell you or aren’t clear about. Here are some things you should know before applying so that you don’t waste your time or get evicted waiting around for MAC to decline you 3 days after your move-out date :) This is common info but you have to be late to get assistance, however, emergency cases get dibs meaning the later you are, the faster your application is processed. It had been almost 2 months after applying before I came in letting them know I had 6 days until I would be evicted in which they finally decided to process my (2nd) application, apparently they were having trouble finding the first one. To avoid this, do not use the drop box, fill out your application and once you have all of your required paperwork, speak to one of the ladies in the back at the desk, this is the most efficient way to apply. Talk to literally ANYBODY other the first Hispanic lady with the glasses. She is not attentive and will accept your application even if you do not qualify. She is the biggest way to waste your time. I gave her all of my paperwork including my work separation notice that clearly states I was fired, we even had a conversation about them needing to know why I was fired and my court documents stating how much time I had left and how much money I owed (more than what they are willing to pay) she did not inform me that both of those things would disqualify me. One time I asked to speak to someone different and she told me that they’d tell me the same thing she would. Wrong. I spoke to someone else and they told me something completely different. VERY IMPORTANT TO KNOW! MAC only pays one rent and a late fee which I find counter productive as you have to be late to apply and the application process can take up to 30-45 days (in my case 48) accumulating more rent, late and court fees. The lady on the phone reassured me that I shouldn’t move out, to be patient and that if they were going to decline my application they would have done so sooner. That was misinformation, don’t waste your time with Ms.Pam. The electric bill and rent processes are separate and just because they pay your electric/water does not mean you’ve been approved for rental assistance. Apply to other places!!!!! Never just apply to MAC. Salvation Army, needlink and affordable housing are the best options I’ve come across. The staff and supervisors are careless and show no compassion for the assistance they provide. After 5 visits, 2 applications, 48 days & who knows how many phone calls, the biggest slap in the face was them not even caring to hear about my experience nor how they’re misleading information and incompetent staff hurt my case more...
Read moreThese people aren't the friendliest at first, and I'm going to blame that on the work load. Even though kindness goes a long way. It was very simple if you complete your application to the fullest and turn everything in and it's organized. I actually made it their late to them, on time to me. I say that because if you Google this place it says they close at 4. They stop seeing people at 3:30, so If you get there at 3:40 they WILL NOT let you in, but if you have everything finished ready to turn in and you get lucky someone comes outside they will turn it in for you. That's what happened to me, so she did what she said she would do and that says a lot about a place. She could have easily just scooted it to the side. Thank you so much for the needed assistance. Maybe update the hours thing on Google, I know it's on your website but just another way you guys can be even...
Read moreMy daughter filed an application with metro action 4 months ago and they still haven't reached out and helped her and her son. She called them told them about her eviction and the lady at the front desk was so rude with every call she has made to them. They tell u to come in and they will let u know something in 30 days and it's been 4 months this is sad. I bet when they family members come up there for help they get help right away but single moms that has never asked any one for help but when she do she get treated real bad. I wish they would understand when these young mothers reach out for help it really tears them down when they been use to helping them self. The lady who answers the phone need to get off her high horse and listen when people is talking to her instead of doing so much...
