Please do not patronize this business! and heres why! ( please read whole review)
I moved into the area back in 2020 (covid era) definitely a lot going on at them times, but never the less called to inquire about the use of range time. I was told they were not excepting new members because of all the "BLACK LIVES MATTER PROTESTING" and only members or people that previously been were allowed. Fast forward to the current events, i figured id give these guys a shot again. the moment i walked into this establishment, immediately i was interrogated! asked a bunch of questions which i don't have any problems with but definitely not a welcoming feeling, i felt harassed! Me being the man that i am, I again said just roll with the punches. So i started going very frequently, so frequently to the point where i was there everyday! Each day, I not only paid for range time but i was also would purchase 10 boxes of ammo each time, targets, and firearms!! I got to know some of the guys including the range manager SHED! which Shed always asked i should just get a range membership beings though i been coming every day. I kindly declined only because i was not sold just quite yet. Reason why i was not sold? again each time i entered TARGET WORLD's range, i did not felt welcomed! (sometimes its not about the savings) but more about the service! Im a big customer service guy! (with out customers you wont be in business) at this point i been to this place of business about a good 10-20 times with in a month
December 9, 2023 I went to the range and i brought a female friend of the family. I had several boxes of there ammo pre loaded which they wanted me to dump out ( still no argument) then i tried to explain to the gentleman that i been coming here very offend, his reply was his protocol and insisted on checking each round of ammo. at this point i just pulled out 5 un-open boxes of ammo that i purchased from target world. now the vibe became weird! i looked over and saw SHED the range manager, Shed does acknowledge that I'm a repeat customer and I'm there all the time. I was being harassed! I was so feed up i just told the employee to "JUST GIVE ME 4 BOXES OFF THE SHELF!" because at this point it was getting a little out hand! Range employee was not focused on the task at hand! busy being so focused in my female friend and the conversation about Florida, which thats where my friend is from. He writes what i asked for on the range card but doesn't hand me the ammo! me and my friend proceeded to use the range and i giving my friend a few pointers and the employee that supposed to be watching everyone to assure everyone is safe is giving us a lot of attention to us! like if we wanted a class we would have signed up for one! never the less we proceed to check out, They wanted to charge me for the ammo that i never received ! now Im hot! SHED asked the employee did he ever hand me the ammo but instead of being a man and say no, he said oh Im not sure... i look at Shed and say, man he didn't give me the ammo and i have no reason to lie over $44.00. shed tells me he has to go and watch the cameras.. WHAT? CAMERA? FOR $44.00? they apologize after watching cameras and asked if i still wanted the ammo. i didn't wanna be petty so i just agreed to purchase. THATS RIGHT ladies AND Gentlemen FORTY-FOUR DOLLARS AND ZERO CENT! i was shocked!! i went home and tried to forget about my encounter but couldn't let it go. I waiting a few days and still couldn't let it go. So i decided to give the store a call to speak to the owner. i pass my concerns to, yup you guess who SHED the range manager, he took my Information down and said owner will contact me.. guess what never did! Sad in todays society it comes down to a GOOGLE review ! I am a African American man that had his rights violated and was accused of thief. An African American man that makes well over 200k per year. I hate to speak about money but that was a total slap to the face! So please and i do mean Please do not patronize this business This how you treat your...
Read moreMy wife and I recently tried to shoot at the Target World range. Even though we're both experienced shooters and have shot there safely before, and even though my wife can handle a firearm safely, they required her to take a really stupid test. They handed her a toy handgun that fires a light beam and asked her to shoot at a target on the wall. The fellow in charge (who seems to have a superiority, know-it-all complex) then criticized her, said she waived the toy gun around, implying she handled it dangerously, and, therefore, she would need to take their safety course for $99 before being allowed to shoot at the range. Firstly, she didn't waive it around. She picked it up and pointed it at the target. It's a TOY GUN! The whole episode exhibits a clever marketing tool to generate another $99 in revenue. I've shot trap and skeet since 1979 and am a current member of a local sportsman's club. I've shopped at Target World over the years for shooting supplies. My wife and I won't be returning to Target World to shop or use their range--ever! Clayton's is much more reasonable and accommodating.
In response to the owner's reply to my original post above, I would tell him that the issue was about safely handling a firearm, which applies equally to shotguns, rifles, and handguns, all of which I've shot since I was 16 years old, including in the army and on a college rifle team. As far as the staff at the range that offended my wife and me, I would say I was shooting for about 30 years before they were born. I've now been handling firearms for over 60 years, and my wife has been handling them for over 14 years. I see a pattern of targeting especially women who arrive to shoot at the range, probably assuming they're easy, willing targets of the marketing of the training class. I would suggest to him that he should consider re-educating his staff. Lastly, since our experience of a few months ago, in speaking of that experience, I've had responses of others who also have had negative experiences at Target World. Fortunately, there a good alternatives for buying firearms and shooting supplies and for using a shooting range...
Read moreI have been to Target world a half dozen times or so over the past few years. While I have NOT experienced some of the interactions and situations I have read in this forum, I have noticed peoples responses to similar situations while I was there. There have been times when the staff seems to be arrogant, and maybe and even argumentative - but when I witnessed this, there was an equal amount of "superiority" coming from the customer. Safety is of the utmost importance in any business dealing with Firearms, and while you might know your qualifications and experience - the men who work there need to feel safe in allowing you to handle a weapon at their facility....so while it might seem invasive and arbitrary, understanding both sides might help.
That said - I see a continued "Theme" that there is a perceived customer service issue - and it has been running for a while now...and like it or not - you know what "They" say - Perception is reality! Yes - the staff needs to be polite and attentive, yes they need to be held accountable when appointments are made and not kept, and yes customers should not be made to feel ignorant (perceived or not)....and I would hope that the owner can also see it - and has addressed these issues so that we will see less of them in the future. If not...well, they will continue to receive bad ratings and we can take it from there!
As a Facility, this place is 5 stars! As a Store, and inventory - again 5 Stars! (Give credit where it is due!) Prices on the range and rentals are fare and very competitive. The place is always clean and well lit. Prices are always up for debate on weapons, and if they hold the line - well, it is a business. In closing - what I would recommend is that you go to Target World with a open mind, and check your ego at the door....if you try to understand that in this environment "SAFETY FIRST" is more than just a saying - you might understand a little better why things are happening.... just...
