Mr. Mac's Discount Grocery Outlet — Local services in New Carlisle

Mac's is an absolutely wonderful local find. A bit of background for me. I am a low-income worker. I don't qualify for any sort of economic or social assistance, and I live in a single-income household. Bills are tight, especially with increasing grocery costs in the post-COVID world. However, Mac's comes in for the pinch.

I make it my regular stop for at least a bi-monthly visit to find some sort of protein I can shove in the deep freeze, and while they don't always have exactly what I want (I mean, they're a second hand grocery, they take what they can get and offer at an affordable price - I GET IT) I usually come back with something to get me through the rest of the month. Sometimes, I get SUPER DUPER lucky with a find nobody else is interest in. Per example, last year I got an entire case (96-count) of Beyond Burger, 1/4 pound patties for a RIDICULOUSLY LOW 25.00. Those damned things run you about 1.50 a piece retail price, and here I was with virtually a year's supply for me, for next to nothing.

Cheerio! I wish they'd order more of the 97/3 ground turkey. That stuff is a MIRACULOUS way to pack in the protein macros.

Just had my first visit this morning. I probably got about $150 worth of groceries for a total of $50. I was soooo skeptical before I came to visit. I honestly thought it was going to be nothing but expired goods. I WAS WRONG! Everything I picked up was good. Not too close to expiration, what so ever. I got a box of 8 larbars that I usually get at GNC for about 60% off retail price. There’s a LOT to try too! I specifically went because my family has been using everything in our deep freezer and once we’ve respectfully used everything we have, we plan to stock it back up, and this will be the place we go to do just that! The employees were also amazing and friendly! Can’t wait...

My toddler and I drove from an hour away to check out this store for the first time today… it did not disappoint. Not only were the deals so fantastic, we left with a cart full for around $70, but the hospitality was absolutely second to none. Mr. Mac himself greeted me out on the floor and even ASKED IF MY TODDLER WANTED SOME FRUIT SNACKS BECAUSE SHE WAS A BIT UNSETTLED. (Nap time, IYKYK.) I was blown away. I wish I lived closer to this store and I wish this store existed when I did live closer to the area. Every person we met in the store was so kind. We will definitely be back!
