I moved to New London about 5 years ago and have always worked a second shift/night shift job. I found a lot of enjoyment being able to go grocery shopping to decompress after my shifts and befriended a lot of the wonderful late night staff after seeing them for years.
When the new owners took over they changed the hours to close at midnight making this location no longer open 24 hours. They recently changed the hours again to close at 10pm. One of the few saving graces of this small town was that this store had such excellent hours. And it acted as such a resource to other people I know with similar work schedules or anyone who needed to make late night purchases. Not to mention if you just want to drive across town for a late night snack.
Since the previous owners sold it the prices are crazy high. There were a few things higher before they changed owners but now itâs ridiculous. Generic mac ân cheese is around $1 per box and name brand is even higher. The gallon of almond milk I normally buy is almost $6 at this store. I feel really bad for older people who canât drive to Waupaca or Appleton for better prices. In a chaotic time like this I really hate the idea of how many peopleâs harder earned money this store is taking advantage of because of its location and lack of other options. If youâre able bodied I highly recommend just going somewhere else and saving your money.
This is exactly why people get frustrated when larger companies take over. I wish the owners who sold it the best but itâs just not the same without their ownership. Drive the extra miles and go to Woodmanâs instead. Even with the gas money you spend youâll save more than if you...
Read moreExcellent customer service, and a person can not argue with variety and good dates on most items. However, prices seem too high even with coupon usage since it was sold.
UPDATE: Sad to say, some few (few) employees are rude and outright not helpful. Others, however, have gone the extra distance being helpful by hunting down what I needed. Not always the answer a customer hopes for, but better than being ignored or told, "Sorry, I have other responsibilities right now.
Second update requested by Google I was looking for two items. Turkey Spam and unfrosted strawberry Pop Tarts. They don't have either. Perhaps these items mean little to you, but they are important to me.
I discovered that this store is now officially owned by the corporate entity itself. This is why the massive changes in layout, available items, and the general attitude of the employees have changed from what it had been with my original review.
Third update requested by Google. I learned today that check out is NOT to ask the customer if they want coupons scanned. But ask if THEY have any needing to be scanned or entered. Festival requires the customer to be on top of coupons, they no longer want to simply give you sale...
Read moreMaps just asked me if my opinion changed regarding this store.
My answer: I think they've settled on being a high priced convenience store. That's really too bad, They had potential.
Here's hoping the Aldi rumors are true.
I keep reviewing this store.
Meat selections are gorgeous, but some of those prices are insane. The produce selections are mostly disappointing. The deli has some interesting choices. I rarely shop most inner aisles as I'm a from scratch cook.
In any case, here's my latest experience
Frozen chicken wing sections, look inside those bags as best you can so your experience is better than mine. The first bag was okay, though the wing sections were much larger than I like, but that second bag?? Three drumettes. Three. The rest were flats with the exception of the whole wing in the bag that I dissected before I took those pics. Check out those pictures... They say it all.
I sincerely thought this store was striving to be a more upscale type market, then they go and stock these obviously bargain wings.
Do better Festival.
Make up your mind-upscale market or large convenience store with...
