We went to the Verizon store in New London at 4 PM today (February 5, 2023) to purchase a 4 mobile phone plan. While the sign on the door indicated that store is opened until 6 PM on Sundays, the place was closed and locked up. There was no sign to indicate why it had closed at least two hours before the time specified on the door.
This is just one of several troubling events that have occurred for us at this location. A few months ago we tried to buy a phone plan and submitted all the required information, but then were told that the forms could not be processed that day and we should come back the next day.
We did. But the person working that day, who we learned was the manager, could not find the paperwork. Even a phone call to the sales person who had been working the previous day proved fruitless. A huge waste of time.
Then, during this past week, when one of us stopped at the store in mid-afternoon to ask a question, the store was closed and locked up. We found a blue post-it note on the door saying the the sales person would return at 5PM.
It is great that some people have done well at this store, but our experience has shown that its manager and its sales staff are unprofessional and incompetent. I purchased a Google Pixel 3 here and the whole event took over four hours (and days to resolve the issues they created). The retail associate messed up the transaction and the setup so it had to be completely started over. They also tried to scam me out of $400 off the phone. They made me purchase the phone for full price without telling me about the deal, and when I went back in to get the deal applied to my account, the manager told me that it would be fraud for me to get the promotion applied. The reason that he gave was because of the way that THEY had set up the new phone for me. After hours on the phone with customer service representatives, the issue was resolved and I got the $400 off my Pixel. In the process of resolving this issue, customer service made a three-way call with myself and the associate who sold me the phone. The associate got frustrated and hung up on us.
I have heard and experienced nothing but terrible service at the New London Verizon store. I am glad to have my issues resolved now, but I strongly recommend you go to the next closest outlet for anything you could...

I also went in knowing which phone I wanted and was going to pay full price for the phone. The gentleman that "helped" me didn't ask if I wanted a protection plan, he didn't tell me how much the phone was, he did ask if I wanted a case, but there weren't any I liked in store. He didn't ask about a trade in, which I assume was because of covid, but none of this was explained to me at all. After scanning stuff on the computer he hands me the new phone and tries to shoo me away. I had to ask how I would transfer my apps, photos and contacts. I also asked if I had to pay him, he said no it will be added to the monthly bill but gave no amount that iI'd be paying. I told him I had wanted to pay retail price and he said, "we are beyond that point but you can pay it off in 30 days from your account." Thankfully he did write down the app I would have to download to transfer my information.
