Unfortunately I am not able to enter this review with no stars, it makes you select at least one, but I do not believe they deserve even that. I have never been so frustrated with any business as I am with New London Hospital! I have been a patient there for over 20 years and will now be searching for a new place for my health care. I called to have three prescriptions filled last Thursday and just got it sent to the pharmacy today a full 6 days later and after numerous calls to my doctors office. The receptionists were all very pleasant and tried to apologize even though I know it was not their fault. Each time I called they were going to have a nurse return my call; however that never happened until my final call almost a week later. The nurse that did finally return my call today was very pleasant and promised me she would take care of it today and call me back. Once again I waited all day and no one ever called me to say the prescriptions were called in! When I went to the pharmacy to see if they were there, there was only one of the three I requested at that location, the other two were called into another location! I am so done with New London Hospital, as I stated previously I will be requesting my records be sent elsewhere once I get set up with a new provider. This is not the first time something like this has happened to both me and my husband with them, they seem to have major communication and customer service issues. This is the first time ever in my life I have written a bad review, I worked in customer service for over 30 years, I know what good customer service is and this...
Read moreI had hopes that this small community hospital would be a positive experience. 3.5 weeks later I still haven’t heard a word from anyone regarding my overnight stay after knee replacement surgery. I am appalled and disgusted with the “care” i received. Never should a patient be spoken down to and disregarded as I was. Waking up from surgery I had the worst case of restless legs. I was not even asking for pain medicine . You would have thought that I was asking for illegal medications. I asked, begged and pleaded to be given my meds for the RLS( restless legs syndrome) . I kept hearing the doctor hasn’t written the orders. It took 3 hours after I first started asking to get one pill. By that time I should have had 4 pills. It was 9pm. My legs were past out of control. I was fresh post op. I was in tears. I’m unable to walk which is what you usually do to help with it. My husband had left for the night as it was past visiting hours. I never felt so alone. I felt trapped. Rudely spoken to and avoided. No one asked me all night if I was OK or needed anything. I believe a negative report was given to the night nurse because he never even introduced himself to me. Had I been able to walk I would have been out of there. It was truly a nightmare. I called my husband crying. He wanted to call the desk and ask what was goin on. I asked him not to .. i worried that it would have been held against me even more . I should mention that I’m a retired longtime RN. How could you be so callous and cruel to a patient who was just asking for basic human decency. This hospital...
Read morei am a retired oncologist. My wife, a retired oncology RN and nurse administrator. We both worked over 40 years in more than a dozen hospitals, including large, academic hospitals and small, rural hospitals. My wife suffered a femoral fracture while we vacationed in the area. She required surgical intervention and a week in hospital before transfering to our home in another state. We have never been so thoroughly impressed by the care we received at this small (25 bed) hospital. I started to keep a list of the staff and employees that merited special thanks, but the list included every person with whom we interacted. All medical staff and support personnel were caring, compassionate and competent. They turned a disastrous injury into a remarkably positive experience. We spoke to many of the employees and medical staff persons. They were well aware of the special esprit shared among hospital employees and all expressed delight in working in this hospital environment. We could not be more appreciative of our experience at this gem...
