First time visiting Crest City Comics(CCC). While we were not immediately greeted, it’s just my thing to acknowledge customers right off the bat. You never know if they are first timers like we were. The store was laid out well and was nice and neat.
Anyhow, nice selection of new books. Labeling was outstanding as the system told you if a new book was from this week or last week. Fair selection of keys on the wall. Not many slabs, but that’s fine. Also a fair number of bin books. Found a couple of variant treats at book price - that was a surprise. So, the prices are fair. Some books priced at market or slight below. I didn’t see any that would have made me turn around and just walk out. That is a thing! Especially, when the proprietor is not willing to fair negotiate.
I was looking for some WWBN and ToD’s. The owner checked his inventory system (a plus) and found some fair priced copies of both series. That was righteous and said a lot about the organization. I chatted the owner up and he seems genuine and friendly. Said he’d just taken in 50-short boxes. Soooo…definitely a follow up.
As we are in New Orleans at least twice a year. We will be back and hopefully spend a little more time there. So, if you’re in New Orleans. Stop by!
My rating system consists of a 3-star being exactly what you expected and neither good nor bad. A 4 means something was extra special and a 5 means you were blown away. A 2 star rating was disappointing and a 1-star rating...
Read moreI constantly feel like I’m being watched in this store and it’s really uncomfortable. Most of the staff are pretty nice, they have a GREAT collection of new books and I always find what i want when I go there but I can’t deny how uncomfortable they make you feel with their “security” measures. Once you walk in you have to give your backpack to them until you’re finished and it’s like okay fine, whatever. I get it, business is business. But just the other day I spent over 150 dollars there and I asked if I could bag and board all of my comics inside the shop because I didn’t want to stuff a bunch of new books in my backpack with no protection because they would likely have gotten damaged. They said that I could but while I was doing it I just remember having so many eyes on me. Like I knew they were just watching me. It’s like dude, I just spent 150 dollars. I’ve spent probably over 1 thousand combined from all my visits. What reason what I have to steal? The people are very nice, I just don’t get these “security measures” that only make customers...
Read moreWent to this location about a month ago and my experience was awful. I was not greeted by any of the two workers that were on staff nor was I ever asked if I need help with anything. I came in looking for manga and had to walk around the store aimlessly trying to find the selection. I was asked to place my backpack behind their counter by a female employee which I obliged but noticed other customers with bags around the same size as mine was not asked to place theirs behind the counter. This was around the time free comic book day was happening and they had leftover comics that were up for grabs. I was never told this and had to find this out by overhearing conversations. I felt as if I was being profiled and disregarded. For that, I will not be returning.
