I was a regular customer and I had been going there to get my hair colored blonde and we were supposed to be going in stages. Leslie Diaz was my hair stylist. Everything was going ok until our last visit when she over processed my hair and left the bleach in my hair for WAY TOO LONG ! To the point that I LOST so much hair! Yes! My HAIR FELL OUT. It broke off. The entire length in the back of my hair fell off about 2 inches, other areas between 3-4 inches on the sides. On top of that, she completely burned my hair, she has ruined my curl pattern. Has created irreversible damage. I will never be able to get my curly hair pattern ever again. It’s nothing but BURNT OUT FRIZZ! Since my hair is curly, I was not able to tell at the moment because she blew out my hair. Curly hair looks longer when it is blow dried straight, so the day that she did my hair, I was not able to tell that there was anything wrong with it. I did not noticed until I washed my hair and I felt it for myself! My hair density felt less and when I tried to crunch the back of my hair to apply gel to my curls, I could feel that my length was much shorter. When I tried to call the manager Candace, she shut me up! Before I could even finish a sentence, she said, “Let me stop you right there…” and went on and on about how my hair looked beautiful from the pictures that Leslie showed her. Instead of giving me a chance or allow me to tell her what Leslie did to me hair. I attempted to call to speak with another manager, and she too blew me off leaving me a voicemail that the matter had been handle and for me to not even bother calling back. So yes, I had really liked going to see Leslie as my hairstylist, but as soon as there was a problem, there was no apology or acceptance of the negligence of her mistake. Even the salón mistreated me and was very rude to me in mishandling this situation. Now, my hair is going to take YEARS TO GROW BACK IF THAT! I deserve an apology and...
Read moreI did not have the awesome John Jay experience today at the St. Charles Ave. location. I went in for a highlight retouch, deep condition, cut and style. What I received was just the top of my head highlighted. I asked for complete head of highlights because that's the way I like it for summer. When I asked again for the complete head, the stylist told me I didn't need it. After I insisted, she spot highlighted the rest. I was there for a couple of hours, but was never offered anything to drink in the middle of this summer heat. While I was under the dryer for a deep condition, I called the front desk on my cell phone and asked for some water. There was no consultation about how I wanted my hair cut and styled. I was not asked to change out of my wet cloak and into a dry styling cape. The salon was dirty and I had to clean the purse shelf with a wet towel before I could put my purse on it. When the stylist opened her supply door, there was a pile a hair swept into the bottom of it and it was about a foot high. Gross. The cut was mediocre and I left with no style to my hair. By the way, the receptionist was, for lack of a better word, rude when I called in to make the...
Read moreMUCH BETTER THAN SUPERCUTS!!
I got my last haircut from Supercuts and yes it was cheap, but it was awful. The lady cut my bangs to go to the wrong side and one side of my hair was at least AN INCH longer than the other.
So i searched around for another salon in the area. I'm on a tight budget but only get a haircut once every 4 or more months, i was getting desperate! I found John Jay and saw their prices were only a little higher than Supercuts so i decided to give them a shot. All the stylists there are new to the game and some are still going through beauty school. But this was a plus for me, i find that younger stylists do a better job with my hair than older stylists.
My stylist was very enthusiastic and has a blast cutting my hair. Im terrible at describing what exactly what i want but she got me! She loved how it came out and so did i! It was the best haircut I've gotten in a VERY long time!! Im definitely going back to see her for my next cut.
I highly recommend. It will take a little longer but it's worth it. You'll get a good quality service for cheaper than the other salons. The accept walk ins too. I had no wait! And they're...
