Fresco Cafe & Pizzeria — Restaurant in New Orleans

One of the most ABSURD experiences of my life. I went to pick up a to-go order at Frescos at about 9 pm. There were 3 tables with customers and about 15-20 tables wide open. After I picked up my food, I walked outside and sat at a table to begin eating. Usually would just take the food home, but this day I planned to walk down the street and go to a bar with a couple friends. So, I sat down and an outside table to quickly eat and head out. Not long after I began eating, I was confronted by two employees who told me I could not eat take out at a table because it would limit their ability to seat dine-in customers. Keep in mind, there were easily 15 tables open. They asked me to leave, but I refused because I was a paying customer no different than any other. She told me they were going to call the police if I didn't leave. Again, I refused because if the police showed up because a paying customer was eating THEIR food in THEIR restaurant, the police would laugh in their faces. I worked in the restaurant industry for years, and i have never seen a customer treated so terribly so quickly. In any service industry, you do your best to ensure customers are satisfied. They completely disregarded my satisfaction even though I came to enjoy their food. I would be surprised if I ever experience anything like that ever again. I’m so impressed I don’t know where to begin! The menu at Fresco is creative and outstanding with options I’ve never known at any other pizzeria and I say this as a New Yorker with high expectations. I ordered the Gyro with a fresco salad on delivery. The delivery was much quicker than expected and the food arrived hot and fresh. The first thing I noticed was the exquisite quality of their salad greens, including the artichoke hearts, and the delicious vinegarette that came with it. Then I moved on to the gyro which was both large and filling, made with clearly high quality ingredients that were flavorful beyond what I ever expected. I love Fresco. I've lived on saint charles nearby for 4 years, and previously on Broadway. Nothing on Maple street tops Fresco for convenience, especually late night in general Riverbend area, with the exception of Cooter Brown's, although quality-wise i find them comparable. Steven is excellent, whether he is taking order from me or a relative back in North Carolina, and has impressive recall of previous orders and preferences. He's definitely worth a mention!
