Pretty generic subway station.
Ability to wait indoors during the winters. There are mechanized boards that note arrival times of trains in both directions and a sign gives notification of approaching trains. The waiting area is staffed by an MTA employee. For those who need a more universally accessible station Beach 116th Street may be the closest option.
Important note: Single but pretty lengthy flight of stairs to get to ticket area. Another shorter flight to platform. Not wheelchair accessible. Not a good station for those with mobility challenges.
Transfer to Other Modes of Transit:
Allows for the transfer to numerous public buses including Q22, Q53, a bus that goes into manhattan, a ferry that goes into manhattan leaves from the vicinty of 116 St. (there is a shuttle to the ferry but I don't know the specifics.)
Restroom (Unavailable):
No public restroom but during the daytime, a restroom can be accessed at the beachfront 2 blocks away (this may only be open during the months the beach is open.)
Recreational Access and Other Info:
The 98th street section of Rockaway Beach has multiple eating options and is also close to various recreational areas eg. courts of various types, swings, fitness installations. A reasonable walk to the hockey area, and skating ramps. Some surf at nearby sections of the beach. This area is also close to the amphitheater where there are public events and parties on select evenings.
