Update**** I was so please with the quality of food initially. I am in the DC area. On 2 separate weekly orders I received food that spoiled prior to the expiration date, which has never happened. They add one ice pack to the order on the top which will not keep an entire order of food cold while presumably sitting in a car on a delivery route. How about you guys add a slab of ice to the bottom as well? I grab my food right away and it has not been ice cold when I unpacked it. The first time I contacted customer service, they gave me some run around about contacting them within a certain number of days if I had an issue after receiving the order. I ordered dinners for a week, and the food went bad 3 days prior to the expiration which was after their threshold. My entire fridge smelled bad. It was 2 fish dishes, mahi mahi with mango habanero and I still abided by the expiration date indicated on the package. I was told by the customer service rep that fish usually goes bad quickly. Tell your team to label things accordingly! I had already paid for another order and the following week the farro in the roasted chicken leg in wine sauce dish smelled off and I opened this before the expiration date. I was credited for the meals I mentioned in my initial complaint, but the lack of accountability really put me off. I also really just don’t know how to feel about the food now. I depend on these meals to make my life easier. Factor 75 was just too heavy for me, and I enjoyed their options. Not to mention they could expand the keto options, just remove the rice/potatoes from the other dishes… and please add more vegetables. There are all dishes I really enjoyed like the one posted in my initial review that have just not come back to the menu. My next order is pretty much just proteins, since I’ve had to prepare my own veggies to add to each meal. We’ll see how that goes… Please listen to your customers. Please improve your packaging when shipping and be accountable for bad food! ***original review*** Every dish I’ve tasted has been excellent. Some other meal pre services just pour butter, cream and cheese on things to make them tasty but each meal I’ve had has been unique and cooked so well. The portions are perfect. The sauces are excellent and they respect vegetables! No frozen veggies used! I follow a low carb diet and the meals have met my macros. The selection is great and customer service is top notch! I have been shopping around for a new meal service and I think I’ll be staying with Cook Unity. The shrimp scampi was so delicious! I’m wondering why I haven’t been making swish noodles all this time. The shrimp was perfect even after being reheated.

Update: I’m not going to take any stars off my review, because largely the issues I have with this company are issues with UPS. But I will say they need to consider a new shipping partner because the issues with UPS make me not want to order from them at all anymore. I still stand by the meal quality and the general ethos of the company in terms of its customer service. But their partnership with UPS makes them difficult to recommend. Finally reviewing this company. First, my 5-star rating is not because mistakes haven’t been made. They have. But they’ve been handled well. So let’s start with the bad to get it out the way. My first two shipments each came with two meals that were unsealed and containers that looked less than appealing. I am pretty sure those were UPS shipping errors, but the company must be responsible for packing meals in a way that they arrive to me safely. When I reported these issues, customer service responded swiftly, credited me, and escalated the situation to ensure I received properly packed meals. I’ve since received two shipments that had zero issues. Another problem I had was confirming my order for the following week, yet being assigned a default meal plan due to a possible technical error. Customer service again responded swiftly and opened a window to allow me to order the meals I wanted. So about the food. It’s delicious! The meals are filling and well seasoned and there is a large selection of meals to choose from. I HAVE had a few meals I thought were unnecessarily greasy and one that was too salty and one that had too much saffron. But I have very few complaints about the flavors of the meals. They’re consistently delicious. I just don’t reorder the ones I don’t like. And they’re always adding new meals. Even with the mistakes, I highly recommend this company. The food is good, the value for the cost is high, the customer service is great. I haven’t had to cook or grocery shop in weeks.

After deciding to leave a meal kit delivery service which was, at best, a functional disaster. Mixed up meals, wrong ingredients in bag, and too many calls for butter and oil - I noticed that I was putting on some weight that had coincided with when I started cooking their meals. Plus they used way too many preservatives than I liked. During my search for a new meal kit service, I came across a number of prepared meal options, which was enticing to me as a placeholder between ditching the old meal kit service and finding a new (more healthier) one. So, I decided to take the plunge. The only thing is I took the plunge with the wrong one, and the experience left me infuriated. As a vegetarian they posed as having plenty of “veggie” options. Once I signed up, I was immediately not well pleased that there were, at most, 4 veggie options to choose from, from week to week. What’s more, the food was horrible, the portions embarrassing, and the outsourced and deficient customer service (who read from scripts) only made a very bad decision worse. Hearing up their meals made me feel as if I was about to eat an overly-glorified over-priced TV dinner. After much research, I THANKFULLY came across CookUnity, and I’m so so glad that I did. The rotating menu has an incredible amount of vegetarian and vegan options and the meals are absolutely amazing, — so thoughtfully made with a robust flavor profile. In top of that, Customer Service is swift, knowledgeable, and warm, —and the delivery is set-up impeccably letting customers know how many stops away their meals are and an ETA that updates in real-time. Hands down, I’m thoroughly impressed and am enjoying meals that are not only flavorful but also healthy and transparent (all ingredients are listed). To make the long short, CookUnity is akin to bringing the restaurant to your table for a very competitive price. Go ahead and try it, you will NOT be disappointed!

I have been on long term disability for a long time and am not mobile enough to get my own groceries and cook even though I love to do so. I have tried many other prepared food services such as Hello Fresh, Real Eats, Factor, before I found CookUnity and I have to say that CookUnity is far and away the BEST. The food offerings are so varied, at least 200+ offerings each week and the menu changes every week, with every kind of diet, Mediterranean, Paleo, Keto, etc. on offer. It has allowed me to enjoy a varied and nutritious diet at a very affordable price and to keep my food costs fixed which is very important when you are on long term disability and limited income. I also appreciate the treats because you always need a treat every now and then, the Tiramisu is my absolute favorite. And the juices as well are very good. The meals are truly delicious, containing quality ingredients, prepared with care by award winning chefs and delivered with care also. I feel full and satisfied after every meal, I appreciate the proportions, they are just right. I am also impressed with the shelf life of the meals, even on the 7th day of the week the meals are still fresh and good. And most importantly because of my condition, unlike with the other prepared food companies I mentioned, CookUnity always delivers directly to my door. I have only had an issue with delivery twice and it was resolved quickly, fully and with compassion both times. Customer service is also top notch. The meals come in insulated bags with ice packs to keep the meals cool which are both reusable. The bags themselves are lovely and high quality and I have given many to my friends and family who really appreciate them. I am beyond grateful for the CookUnity service and offerings. I don't know how I would have survived without CookUnity these past months. I started with a 6 meal a week plan and I am currently now using a 12 meal a week plan. When friends come to visit or help me out I can offer them a meal and they are always surprised at how good it is. I can personally and highly recommend CookUnity as BEST IN CLASS! I am always so happy when I see their bag on...
