I had a terrible experience trying to attend an open house hosted by Donna. The open house was in middle village. My boyfriend and I drove from Brooklyn on a Sunday morning and our agent wasn't able to attend because she was hosting her own open house that day. As we were entering the house I made the mistake of letting Donna know that I already had an agent. Once I let her know that Donna turned us away and said we'd have to get our agent to show up. I spoke with my agent over text and she told me that this is illegal and that anyone can attend with or without an agent because it's an open house. It seemed like a misunderstanding so before leaving I tried to reason with Donna so my boyfriend and I wouldn't have to drive back on another day. While waiting to speak with Donna we watch another older couple who said they had found the listing on Zillow enter without an agent with no issue. Another agent locked the glass door while we waited outside as if they were concerned for their safety. When Donna finally come out to speak with us she shielded herself with the glass door as we spoke. She said how busy the opening is and how they don't have time to let us walk through, saying all of the other buyers here are pre approved for mortgages ( I am an all cash buyer). She also said she is liable for anything that is stolen insinuating that we might steal something. At first I thought she didn't want to let us see the house because she had prospective offers and didn't want to co-broke a deal with an outside agent, but the more I talked to her it seemed like she might also be assuming that we are no serious buyers because we are in our early 30's. Regardless of the reason her approach was patronizing, and the situation seemed to be revealing of unethical or discriminatory practices. My agent followed up with Donna multiple times and she never responded so we were never able to view the home despite being interested buyers with...
Read moreIt’s been about a year since my very LONG review. So here’s a MUCH shorter version. I highly recommend Donna Demkowicz Realty. They have experience, knowledge and the personable skills to get the job done. As a landlord, I could not be happier with the tenant they found for me.
As a third generation homeowner of a two family house, I needed rental income. But I was very apprehensive about finding a tenant. I had had only one experience with a realtor who had found a pair of mismatched roommate for my first tenants. It did not go well until the dissatisfied roommate left a few months later.
Of course, no one can be certain of how people will behave in their rental. But I do believe a good realtor can make a difference in finding tenants who will respect the property and the people living there. So, with a newly vacated apartment, I started searching for a new realtor.
Donna’s business seemed similar to others. It was established in the area with good reviews. But, the difference for me were the satisfied landlord reviews. That set her apart from the rest with good reason. Donna and her sales person, Evie, earned those reviews and now this one.
They worked with me and always kept me updated on the search. They brought prospective tenants who were genuinely interested in the apartment. It wasn’t just about a good background check (VERY important, of course, but only one part it). They listened and did the work to find a great tenant.
The end result proves it. It’s a new month with a new tenant and I’m one very happy landlord! Thanks, Donna and Evie, for restoring my confidence in the...
Read moreErika Demkowicz of Donna Demkowicz Real Estate was heaven sent to rent my property! I needed a real estate professional who is a well experience expert in rental. NYC is a difficult market to find qualified renters and Erika and her firm have a very long history of doing just that. In fact her firm was referred to me by another Real Estate firm that is no longer does rentals. First off Erika drills down the qualification requirements in the application process. Where other firm pay lip service to this, Erika screens the applicants financials so that there is no surprises. After all would it be fair to put a renter in your property if they find that they are strapped? Well, that is why Erika is so successful with renters as well, she serves them well finding the right property for their requirements and budget wise that meets their satisfaction. Erica does all the work in the background, the bureaucratic processes, application, guiding the renter to provide documents and creating a lease that incorporates the Landlords needs. When both the renter and Landlord agree to proceed, a walk through and and lease signing orchestrated by Erika, occurs only if both parties are satisfied. That conclusion is the result of what Erica strives for "Both parties are highly satisfied". When that occurs you realize how painless Erika has made it seem for everyone. She was always professional and always confident in succeeding on my behalf and she did so in such a personable and friendly manner. She met my goals and so many satisfied prior to me - thank you...
