Enterprise is generally good because the rates are excellent. My only issue is the excessive hold that they put on your credit card if you're local. Specifically at the JFK airport, but I guess that has to do with the fees that goes along with renting from an airport. In the end the excessive charge actually outweighs the fact that their rates are generally less expensive then their competitors. The return process is smooth when it goes right. Keep in mind when dealing with outside travel companies like Expedia, Priceline and Hotwire, additional fees are not taken into consideration so always contact the rental car agency to find out what the actual charges are, which is really not that much more. To note there was damage in the van I rented but they made me comfortable driving ot because i was immediately told about it and it was notes in their books. That means that they really pay attention to details. I was also shown how to drop and lower the seats, so I could get full use of the room inside of the mini-van. Now that's patience! Those guys are great at the JFK location. Upon my return, I had an incident with one of the rental car return agents. There were three at the JFK location and the tall dark-skinned afro-caribbean or African American agent was extremely rude. As an African-American myself, he's an embarrassment. I won't go into details, but regardless of your race, ethnicity and religion, try to avoid him if you can with any conversation. If you need details about your rental and need to conduct business because he's just a total idiot and UNHINGED just talk to another return agent. I frequent the airport often and I guess he didn't realize, who he was actually speaking to, because I understood and understand the entire return process. I used to work for Hertz Car Rental. I've never experienced anything like it in the 30 years I've been renting cars here and internationally. I did speak to management, and hopefully they will pull him to the side and make him realize that jobs nowadays are very valuable. I'm putting this in the review because we have a lot of people coming into the airport and they do not need to be subjected to a rude rental car return agent. Airports can be harrowing enough. The other rental car return agents on the property where extremely helpful and terrific as well as the agents at JFK's front desk. I would like to say thank you to the Enterprise Team for making my rental pleasant when I picked up. The return should have been more smooth but I do not blame the location, and they should not have to apologize for a...
Read moreI am an international traveller, and for the past 10 to 15 years, I have been renting from Enterprise when I travel to JFK on work. They have been pretty decent. I rented a Honda accord on the 13th Oct and have mixed feelings about Enterpirse service levels and policies for customers who are not US citizens they treat you differently and a bit biased about it as well. May be other rental companies are better on this matter but I would know since I always choose enterprise and I am a plus customer. May be I should start trying other companies. The JFK enterprise location is complicated to find since there are no signs anywhere stating they are in the same building as National and Alamo. The good part about my 13th Oct pick-up was that the guy serving me was super friendly and courteous. The company I work for has given me a debit expense card for my travel expenses, and my name is not printed on that card. The rep said they don't accept these cards for valid reasons, and I understand. But I requested him to try it, and he did. The card didn't go through, so I had to use my personal credit card for work expenses. Again, I'm not sure if my frustration is with Enterprise or the company I work for. Either way, maybe enterprise also looks into servicing international clients out of the US with a better policy and a little bit more friendlier. When I returned the car on the 18th, the lady was rude when I asked to check and see if I could change the card to the prepaid debit card. If not for the guy working next to her, she was about to lose it on me. Crappy service 😒 overall and maybe time to cancel my plus membership and try other rental companies to see how their service is after using enterprise in all my US trips for the past 15 years. Also rented from them on the 20th from DFW, the guy was super friendly to an older couple before I got to his counter and completely switched his tone towards me since I had an international drivers license, wanted to run my expense debit card with no name that my company gave. He made me feel as if I was renting the car to ditch it someplace in Dallas and leave the US. They really need to sort out how they service international customers. As I am starting to feel with my past experience, they have no clue with the new generation working for them. May be some wisdom from the older folks who worked for enterprise 10 t0 15 years...
Read moreENTERPRISE CLAIMING DAMAGE ON RENTAL CAR THAT WAS ALREADY THERE!
Picked up a rental for the weekend in New York City. Saw that the car already had damages from scratches to dents all over the front and rear bumpers and all the fenders. Before getting in the rental and driving off the lot, I ended up taking as many pictures as I could of the damages.
I had no issues at all with driving and operating the car. No accidents or incidents either.
The real problems start when returning the car at the drop off lot. Made it by my allotted time and waited at least 30 minutes with other renters in a long line just for the 1 attendant who was managing all the drop offs to process the return. Attendant walks around the car a couple of times, sits in the driver’s seat, takes a look around in the interior and dashboard. He hops out, and starts verifying the rental information, my name and basic information, and asks if there were any issues with the rental. I said that there were no issues at all and the car drove really well all weekend. I notice the attendant standing by the passenger side rear wheel, slightly looking down at the fender and says there’s a dent in the fender. He then asks if I got into an accident. I immediately remember that I took pictures of the car at pickup, especially of the damage mentioned by the attendant and tell him. He says he’s going to have to write up an incident report at his booth anyway, and that I could write a statement in the report indicating that I have pictures to prove that the damage was there at pickup.
Got paperwork and claims forms delivered to my home address within two days of returning the rental, yet when I respond with emails to the company, I do not receive a single response besides an automated email confirming a message was received at the company by me.
This was my 3rd or 4th time renting with Enterprise, the company, but my first time renting at this specific location. All of my previous experiences with Enterprise have been super pleasant and easy, and I’ve never had issues renting from them before at different locations, but after going through the return process at JFK-Federal Circle, I don’t think I’ll...
