Rosie Richards Studio — Local services in New York

I researched a baby photographer for my sons first birthday for months before going ahead and securing Rosie from Brooklyn Baby Photography. Overall I felt like Rosie’s work was exceptional. Here is my experience:

PROS and CONS I reached out in Summer 2020 asking for prices. I like that Rosie provided a smash cake and a family photo which many other photographers did not do. Prices were comparable to other photographers in the field. Please note since my shoot Rosie has significantly increased the cost of packages while providing a couple of more images.

Rosie’s communication is exceptional. It is clear that she is organized and cares about the client relationship. After reaching out in July I checked in a couple of months later and to my surprise Rosie had increased her prices with minimal modification to her packages. I asked her to honor the original pricing which she was happy to accommodate.

Her “basic” package was a hefty $350 for only 8 photos. From the experience with other mommy friends; though Rosie wins when it comes to communication and not having to worry about cake and decor for the photoshoot, she misses the mark in customer satisfaction by only providing 8 photos. My original understanding was that I would get all gallery pics but 8 would be photoshopped to my liking. I was surprised when I received an email weeks after the shoot showing that wasn’t the case. I feel like this is a deal breaker for sure. I ended up having to pay an additional $160 for additional 6 photos which is insane.

Because of COVID Rosie was respectful about wearing a mask during our entire shoot but there was no connections between her and my son. She only had a little Elmo with a bell. My son was not impressed to say the least. I know it wasn’t really her fault but when someone has “baby photographer” as the name of your company I was expecting a couple of additional tricks under her belt. I also want to add my son has had three shoots total - two with another family photographer and she was able to connect with my son by doing peek a boo - so I know there are methods out there. Even though that connection wasn’t there Rosie was able to capture some really good shoots which I was impressed with. I left the shoot feeling sad and thought there wouldn’t be any good images but to my surprise Rosie was still able to capture some really cute moments.

Rosie was thorough about discussing the backdrop vision and cake smash set up and studio were all impeccable.

Our experience with Brooklyn Baby Photography was absolutely incredible. Rosie was superb and extremely professional. She was so kind and patient with our twins for their cake smash shoot. They were able to photograph in multiple (3) outfits in addition to our family pics. Our son needed to be fed during the shoot and Rosie was quite understanding. We ended up running over the allotted time but Rosie did not rush us out and she developed great shots of our babies. Rosie was so very patient with me and my umpteenth questions and I totally appreciate her for answering them all and never once getting upset. If you are wondering about pricing; I say you pay for the quality work that you want and Brooklyn Baby Photography delivered on capturing our twins first birthday! I couldn't ask for anything better. Rosie took our newborn photos for us and we couldn’t be happier with both the experience and photos. We went to Rosie during the COVID pandemic and felt very safe. The studio was very clean and she wore a mask. She was available to answer any questions we had prior to booking and the turn around time for photos was quicker than we expected. We had our 2 yr old toddler with us and she took fantastic photos of our family and sibling shots. She showed us the photos as we went along and retook any shots I requested. She even fed our newborn a bottle and was so good with him! She got him to calm down n do all the cute poses.
