WARNING : OLD NASTY FOOD I GOT SICK !!!! I am a 10+ year resident of clinton hill, living about 3 blocks from this placeand finally popped in. They have a bunch of random asian condiments and snacks and warm food in a case - which I would not recommend it to anyone unless you want to get ripped off and sick.
I purchased a "Jerk Chicken" empanada - which was TINY and did not have a price next to the name of the item. When I got to the register it was $7 !!!! This is problem #1 . It should have been no more than $4. It was too small and there was nothing special about it. Secondly it was DRY and tasted as if it was OLD... and there was very little " jerk" to this nasty dried out chicken.
I left feeling as if I got totally ripped off .... and then. within about 30 mins my stomach started cramping up horribly and I started to feel really really sick. I had eaten nothing else , and this feeling lasted for hours. I am filing a complaint with the health dept, and a chargeback/ refund request on my card for the $8 i paid for the most disgusting hand pie i have ever eaten - and the only one i have ever gotten sick from. This ruined my entire day yesterday and i wound up sweating buckets in my air conditioning, clearly food poisoned with my stomach cramped up.
p.s. after I came to write this I saw the other review from an individual saying they got sick from a burrito - the burritos and this nasty little hand pie were in the same case , so trust me and avoid the food at this place...
Read moreI have been recently visiting a delightful new convenience store that offers a wide array of the latest snacks and drinks from Asia. They also provide homemade grab-and-go options, such as delicious corn and cheese onigiri, wraps, and sandwiches. My son and I shared a Spam musubi; interestingly, they use a canned meat alternative that I found even more enjoyable than traditional Spam. This product is also available for purchase in the store.
We often pick up new frozen treats from their freezer or try fruit jellies my son discovers on YouTube. One of our favorites is a mango candy that allows you to peel away the outer layers to reveal new candy inside.
Today, Saturday, I happened to stop by and found they were hosting a pop-up event in the back. I had the opportunity to sample some of the food and was thoroughly impressed by the homey and authentic dishes. The braised beef was perfectly cooked and seasoned, accompanied by a plate of eggplant, a chrysanthemum salad, and spicy peanut noodles topped with a poached egg. I loved it all, especially the spicy peanut noodles, which I will definitely return for.
I wish I had taken some photos, as the poached egg was perfectly runny.

I hope people know that there’s a cozy little nook in the back where you can order food because it’s outrageously tasty. This is a beautiful gem of a specialty convenience store / food bar. Whereas I came in for the food, my kids came in for the treats. Which were also on point.
There wasn’t much I didn’t like about this place. Go and check it out for yourself. Say hi to the owner Jen, who was super personable!
Well done Myrtle...
