Review for Pink Mink – 178-21 Hillside Ave, Queens, NY

I visited Pink Mink for a brow wax and tint, lash application, and a $10 nose detox I saw advertised in-store. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing from start to finish.

Brows: I specifically told the older service provider not to wax a certain part of my left brow because hair doesn’t grow in that area. Despite this, she waxed it anyway. I noticed that my left brow was visibly higher than the right once the tint was being applied. When I brought it up, she denied waxing the area, even though I felt it at the time she did. This made the result uneven and not what I asked for.

Nose Detox: The detox was supposed to remove buildup and unclog pores. They applied wax to my nose, let it harden, and peeled it off. It had minimal effect. The younger service provider then used a flat-ended tool to extract more buildup and mentioned adding a fruit mask. I clearly stated I only wanted the nose detox service for $10, as advertised. After the service, I still saw noticeable buildup on my nose and pointed it out. She went back and tried again, but when I got home, I could still see leftover buildup. I would not recommend this service at all—it was ineffective.

Lashes: I requested a cat eye look and showed a reference photo. The older provider explained that they use clusters and it wouldn’t look exactly like the picture. She showed me an example on her phone that looked perfect, so I agreed. However, the lashes the younger provider applied were all the same length—nothing like a cat eye, which typically has shorter lashes in the inner corner and longer ones on the outer edge. While getting the service, another client walked in complaining about an allergic reaction to a lash lift she had gotten there, which honestly should’ve been a red flag.

After my lashes were done, I told them it wasn’t what I asked for. The older provider again claimed she had told me it wouldn’t match the picture, but when I asked her to show everyone the photo again and compare it to my lashes, she didn’t respond. I ended up asking for the lashes to be removed.

Payment: Since I only kept the brow and nose services, I expected to pay the $25 package price listed in the salon. Even though I wasn’t satisfied, I still tipped the younger provider $30 and told her to keep the change. The older provider then insisted my total was $30 because a fruit mask had been applied—something I never asked for. I reminded them it was my first time and I hadn’t agreed to anything extra. Again, no response. I will say that the younger provider who was servicing me was very kind and she tried her best.

Overall, this was a frustrating experience. Poor communication, upselling without consent, and subpar services left me feeling disappointed. I will not be returning and cannot...
