Seven Joy Spa — Local services in New York

Honest opinion. A friend and I went here last night to get the head & scalp treatment. We were asked to change into robes (which were slightly damp) and were walked in on several times while getting changed. I can see from the other reviews this is something that happens often. I felt the head and scalp massage was very lack luster. It just felt like she was scrubbing my head the entire time. At one point I felt I was borderline being waterboarded from the amount of water being poured over my face and onto my eyelids. The treatment also lists a foot massage but I did not receive a foot massage, only a “leg” massage I guess you could call it. When it came time to dry our hair, they took one look at my curly hair and were confused. They kept trying to push me to just leave it wet but it’s been very cold lately and I didn’t want to risk getting sick by going outside with wet hair. The lady that manages the front desk then told me it would be an extra $10. For curly hair? Ridiculous. While they were drying my friends straight hair, several customers came in for their appointments so she had to keep running back and forth. It sounded like they overbooked their head & scalp treatment room and the customers were upset and left. Lastly, during our entire treatment the lady’s did not stop talking. Horrible horrible horrible experience!!! Staff kept walking in while changing clothes without knocking or asking! They began 15 min late and when we finished 15 min late the female manager was huffing and puffing in our faces to get dressed because there were customers after us. She did not let me or my friend get dressed properly before leaving and kept giving us ugly looks. When we stated beforehand we cannot have any male in the room, the male manager came in on me and my friend while we’re not dressed to speak with us. Our friend that referred us was asked how she wanted her blowout (curly or straight) and offered a foot steamer and other services that we weren’t offered, they simply dried our hair w out even a brush. Additionally they forced a $10 tip when I came to pay and said this is the minimum although the service was horrible and it did not state that was the minimum anywhere on their website or instagram Wouldn’t come here again or...

had an amazing experience at Seven Joy Spa! The atmosphere was incredibly calming, and the whole vibe of the place just felt welcoming and relaxing. The environment was beautifully maintained and created the perfect setting to unwind. I felt comfortable from the moment I walked in, and the staff was attentive and professional.
