The people who work there are nice, but everything is inexcusably expencive. Like, books are about 3 times the price of getting them elsewhere, and I've seen some other schools who have book stores that are closer to 2 times what they reasonably should be. Nothing in the store feels worth it to purchase. It's cheaper to buy something online AND get it shipped. You're essentially paying for the logo on mediocre products. And sometimes the logo has messed up paint on stuff, so it's not even a good version of the logo. You could go to some printer shop and have them custom print a mug, or hat, or jacket with a png of the logo for half the price. There's very little here that feels custom made to be worth it, like a custom thermos in the shape of the mascot - nothing like that. Just feels like a rip off. And everyone still buys so much from the place, but even renting textbooks is far more than renting it from other places. And their trade-in value is expectedly nothing. You're lucky if you can get 10% back of what you paid for if you sell there. Usually the more expencive a book is, the higher percent you'll get back. Maybe $10 on 200 or $50 on 500, you can never tell. That part comes from heresay with people I've talked to. Usually if you buy and sell back, you never get back enough to off-set that method over renting it. Then they sell it back used for almost the same price after paying almost nothing for it, so they make huge profit margins off student who often don't know any better. Try not to go here unless you have NO...
Read moreThe St. Johnâs University campus bookstore is aesthetically pleasing and offers most things a college student typically needs throughout the semesters. However, there has been one worker that is extremely rude, sarcastic and never makes eye contact with the customers. This is an Asian male individual who refuses to help customers, such as myself, with anything. I have been attending the university for about 1.5 years and he has treated me, and other customers, the same ever since. Whenever you ask him something, he grunts or gives a muffled sigh and forcibly entertains the question. There are people entering St. Johnâs University from all walks of life and this is not a good way to make a possible first impression or reputation for the university. If possible, I would like to be contacted by the campus bookstore to report this one worker that has just made the experience undesirable and...
