Balboa Peninsula has a charming, nostalgic feel, but some areas, including the arcade, and shops on the side where the arcade is at seem a bit run down. It’s a neat spot with a lot of history, and I imagine it was much busier 10 to 15 years ago. My favorite part of the experience was taking the Balboa Island Ferry to get the side where the Ferris wheel was at. Unfortunately when we got there it was closed. To ride the ferry there’s a small fee of about $1.25 per person each way, and they only accept cash. You can also bring your vehicle onboard if needed.

We did enjoy the frozen bananas and walking down the walkway to get to the ferry. It full of many beautiful homes. We ate at a local restaurant and it did not disappoint. (Wilma’s Patio.)

It’s a beautiful area: the city, the beach and the shops and restaurants. My favorite restaurant is: Swiss French “Basilic” !
