Edit 2025: Same sevice costs $88/ month. EDIT #3: SPECTRUM is a monopoly in this region. It's now 2024 and they want to charge me $84/month for the exact same service. Contact your local reps and senators because this is ridiculous. It's the only ISP that serves my town in Litchfield County. Again, this is about the company not the people working in the store. EDIT #2: ANOTHER YEAR LATER After 1 year at the $49.99/month rate my bill went up to $64.95/month. Now, after another year, with no prior warning, I'm being charged $74/month for the same internet at the lowest tier. That's ridiculous. That's an entire electric bill! What the hell?! I don't know anyone else who pays this much for internet service. Something needs to change. EDIT: 1 YEAR LATER [I finally got a good tech support person on the line (I wish I knew her name) and she suggested I buy a signal amplifier for my laptop. I got the most popular one listed on Amazon and it worked, mostly solved my issues here at home. If there's a stiff wind or a storm the internet wavers. I still don't think Spectrum is worth $50/month, and that was the promotional price. On a good day my speed is 11 mbs] You will be better off with a carrier pigeon than Spectrum as your ISP. Unfortunately, for me Spectrum/Charter is the ONLY option in my small town. I'm a grad student so I rely heavily on good internet service to participate in weekly classes and seminars. I also do not get cell phone service in my entire town so I need wifi calling to work 100% of the time in case of an emergency. With Spectrum I can't follow along in class or even speak to my professors because the signal drops CONSTANTLY. Important meetings/calls? Forget about it! Keeping calls going is a Sisyphean task, and it's embarrassing. I have to drive 20 minutes to my work after hours to pick up signal and go to class, and then drive 20 minutes home. WHAT THE HECK AM I PAYING FOR SPECTRUM?! I'm paying just as much for service as I'm wasting in gas to go to class. I've called several times to fix this issue and their operators say the same thing, "We don't see any service interruptions in your area. Have you called your router company?" I purchased two brand new routers to test signal. Guess what? It's not the routers that are the problem, like I told them the first two times I called to complain. "We can send out a tech to check?" I told them that was fine, but that I won't pay for it and all I heard was a heavy sigh in response. No idea what to do about this. Is a class action lawsuit an option?I want my money back or at least a credit to my account. I cannot get my work done at all with Spectrum. The employee I interacted with was only interested in making a sale. He was chatting with me and the other employees, but not paying attention to what he was doing at all. I bought a new phone but he also put through an extra charge on my card. I cannot get in touch with this location in any way. I spent an hour of my time on the phone with every level of billing customer service and they are unable to refund me unless I take additional time out of my day to go to the store and ask for the refund. I can't even dispute the charge because it's a holiday! So now I am 1- deprived of my money, 2- deprived of my time, 3- deprived of additional time that will be needed to go to the store, and 4- truly furious at the level of corporate stupidity and personal idiocy in this company.
