Everything just tasted funky…. I ordered the mango spicy chicken, steamed dumplings, house salad and lemonade while my parents ordered the teriyaki chicken, house salad and Thai coconut milk chicken.
The first thing that was off to me that should have been a red flag was even the lemonade tasted strange, I am not expecting anything fresh but just a standard lemonade that does not taste old, it tasted off in a way that is hard to describe. The house salad was cold like it just got out of the freezer, drowned in this orange dressing that was good and had an East Asian style of dressing but it was over powering. There was a pool of orange dressing after I finished eating the lettuce and cucumber, some pieces of lettuce was even hiding in the pool of dressing and it was in a small portion. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a photo of the salad but it was a little less than the bowl of rice. The dumplings came in a unique shape but the dough was a little undercooked and chewy, the filling inside also did not taste fresh, the soy sauce dip was the best part of the dish. The mango spicy chicken was something I tried as an experiment and already knew it would be a 50/50 to my liking and it was okay. The mango pieces and vegetables were good however, the sauce was lacking more seasoning and the rice to meat ratio for all meals was off. For 18-20$ I would hope you would get a little more rice than that, especially when the white rice was the best part out of everything ordered.
Lastly, the commonly known staple meal, teriyaki chicken, was a disaster. It was tasteless like someone boiled chicken then tossed it in a thin sauce, you can tell by the photo. Plus, it randomly came with a side of yams? The broccoli was also a side and it came just steamed/boiled, clearly no salt added. Overall, the meals lacked freshness, seasoning and authenticity of Japanese and Chinese cuisine to an extent. I would give this restaurant 3 stars but for how much you’re spending per a meal it automatically becomes a 1 or 2. I recommend this restaurant to people who have money to spend and are not big on flavor.
At the end of the day we spent 80$ for a below average meal… Don’t get me wrong the staff were great, attentive and timely, this restaurants excels more in cleanliness, customer service, decor/atmosphere than food. If I’m being honest with you, I’m scared to try the left overs of the Thai chicken or any of the plenty of leftovers we took home to make the most out...
Read moreI don't know what happened to this place, it used to be good. Admittedly the plain Nigiri fish was fresh, however that is not where my issue is. Just about everything else was wrong about our meal. My husband ordered the Tonkatsu Ramen my word of advice is DO NOT ORDER THIS! To start off the bowl we received looked NOTHING like the picture they had, none of the items pictured came in the bowl, while the eggs are seasoned the proper way (which usually takes 2-3 days) they overcooked them beyond belief to where the yolk was yellow and drying, The pork was chewy and overcooked as well, the noodles were soggy, The broth was pork water. If you are looking for better Ramen I would look in New Fairfield or Norwalk.
(a side note too, the server spilled my entire glass of sake and they made no effort to replace it. I understand accidents happen and she apologized however no compensation was offered and we had to ask them to replace it. There were other things wrong with our meal and they just seemed to want to hurry us out because they were done with us no apologies were made and we didn't see the owner of the place at all. Due to rudeness I would never come back there are much better Asian restaurants with much more...
Read moreWe (5 adults and a child) had reservations and were immediately seated. Lucky we did, the place filled up quickly. It was our first time here. The waitress gave us plenty of time to look at the menu. The hibachi experience was fantastic. Our chef was not Japanese, neither was the other one (appeared American), but the food they cooked was authentic. I actually ate all my vegetables because of the flavoring from the way they were cooked. Our chef interacted with the whole table, flipping the food into our mouths and providing the adults with a few squirts of Saki. The did have Japanese beer, which was served to me ice cold. The were extremely friendly to my granddaughter. They provided her with a decorative balloon to wear around her head.
Plenty of parking in their lot.
I would go back. I am planning...
