Let me start off by saying Tamarind is a bit of an enigma... went there for a lunch recently and left w mixed feelings....
The exterior dsnt really scream restaurant and front parking is tricky. Upon entering the feel is a bit more upscale than most others that tend to have a more streetfood vibe.
Giving the decor I was anticipating a bit more having gone to many high end Indian restaurants in the city close by. Not to say I or my party were upset but were anticipating a different experience.
Our waitress/host appeared to be disengaged right from the jump as she was slow to approach us and get us seated. She was also preoccupied w/ the only other seated table in the restaurant at the time. We weren't given a run down on specials or really asked about anything.
We ordered puchkas and somosas n fortunately we frequent Indian cuisine or we would have been lost trying to navigate the menu.
Our food came out n sat for a few mins under a hot lamp while I waitress assisted a coworker bringing in supplies. I didn't witness her wash her hands but she eventually brought over the apps and we started to dig in.
The flavors and spice were fairly good and on par w what you would expect no issues there....
Our entrees came out and didn't have to sit long so a plus. We had a few kormas, tikka masala and vindaloo. All the dishes were fragrant and had good flavor although the kormas were more reminiscent of a curry and missing that nuttiness from the cashews in the sauce. Spicy is actually spicy here so that's a win.
The gulab jamun was good as far as density and saffron flavor but was lacking in milkiness and overall polish. Still pretty delicious if not a little on the small side
All in all for the price I was a little surprised at how the food was presented and that the staff wasn't a bit more attentive. The food was very good flavor-wise but from kitchen to table things feel disjointed. Not bad but room...

Chicken tikka type thing was undercooked on the very first bite for my husband as well as my piece so we had to send it back. My sweet corn chicken soup came with no chicken. The chef came to the table aware of the mistake before we said anything and took my soup away. It came back with chicken AND A HAIR. I sent it back but it returned within 4-5 minutes at which point I did not trust that it was made again so I did not accept it. Before the appetizers could come back we were served our entrees. Paneer lababdar had some flavor but little to no salt. I didn’t even want to ask for salt at this point. My husbands goat curry was good. Naans were well made and large. At this point when we are almost done they bring back that chicken tikka! We were willing to pay for it but it did not belong on a table that was almost finished with their meal. The waitress ignored us like the plague only to say in the end that the entire kitchen staff Tasted the tikka which was not undercooked according to all of them. Little did she remember that we still had the undercooked chicken pieces left on our appetizer plates which were still on our table. We showed her what it looked like and there was no question the chicken wasn’t cooked but she turned into a vegetarian at this point and was unable to taste it. We paid our bill and left. Clearly they are out of place here and are not worth...
