I originally was very disappointed with the service that I received from a l & m. I had a keyboard that I brought in for repairs in December of 2018 because two of my keys were not playing in each octave. I always had to call to check on the status of my keyboard and could never get a phone call to be told what the status of my keyboard was and I felt that was unprofessional. my keyboard was finally fixed after being told I have to wait a few weeks for parts to come in.
6 months later the same two keys stopped functioning on my keyboard. I took my keyboard back with the receipt that I had from 6 months ago and told the African American gentleman what was going on with my keyboard. He proceeded to tell me that I needed to pay for the same service again and I explained to him that the parts that were put in my keyboard should have at least a one year warranty on them and I don't feel that it's fair for me to pay for the same work to be done again. He disregarded what I said and told me I'm sorry but that's our policy and a white gentleman I believe the manager came over because he started to see that I was getting heated. I'm also African-American by the way do I'm not being racially bias, just too be clear.
The gentleman took my keyboard and wrote down what the issues were on June 8th. I called two weeks later to check on the status of my keyboard and a gentleman told me that he could tell the repair guy to call me back but there was no guarantee that he would be able to call me back because he was so busy. I said I just want to get the status of my keyboard are there not any notes stating the status of my equipment and this gentleman said no you have to speak directly to the repair guy. I thought that was unprofessional also because if I had a car and bought it to a repair shop I wouldn't have to wait two weeks to hear from that auto repair shop about what's wrong with my car they will call me instead of me having to call them and speak to a specific individual.
I went on vacation out of the country and came back now we're six weeks after my original drop off date and I have no phone calls on the status of my keyboard and I'm fed up at this point so I call al&m and tell them I'm coming to pick up my keyboard today whether it is repaired or not. the gentleman I spoke to on the phone hung the phone up on me because I was getting irritated and and vice versa. When I arrived to the shop I was greeted appropriately and a gentleman named Ben came out of the back room to assist me.
Ben made my experience better this is why I'm giving three stars instead of one. He explain to me what was going on with my keyboard and tried his best to give me illustrations to make sure I had a clear understanding of what was going on and what my options were for the future. I appreciate been doing that but what I most appreciate it's been said hey I know you had to be inconvenienced and coming here again typically we get a 30-day warranty on repairs but I feel compassion about your situation so therefore don't worry about can I see anything on this go round. That went a long way with me and it will allow me to give al&m another chance because of what's Ben decided to do. Take this evaluation for...
Read moreIf I could give this company a -5 start review I would do it. I own a small business and we had a urgent need for a mixer amp yesterday, so I stopped by ALM. They sold me a used mixer amp and claimed that their tech had checked out the unit. I bought it and asked about the warranty and the salesperson assured me that it would work. I bought the unit from him and also several new microphones. We took the unit to my customers site and checked it out prior to the installation and the unit did come on, but did have significant distortion. Needless to say, my customer was not a happy camper, so with very little time left in the day, we found another mixer amp from a ALM competitor that worked perfectly! So, I called ALM today to let them know of the problem I had and they were not interested in refunding my money, they would only offer store credit. (just an aside, how many of you would accept store credit from a company that clearly did not properly check out their used equipment before selling it?). Anyway, my response to him was that since they have a full time repair technician on staff, I proposed that the their technician check out my claims of a faulty unit, and if he could demonstrate that the unit did work properly, then I would keep the unit. He declined my offer, so my advice to future ALM customers is to get their policy on buying used equipment IN WRITING prior to...
Read moreThis place is outstanding, terrific staff helped me decide what guitar to purchase and were very accommodating in regards to answering any questions I had (As I'm a beginner guitar player).
The Prices are also very good, better than guitar center's, at least in comparison to what I've seen, they don't have a lot of the bare-bones, bare minimum $ cheap guitars that guitar center has (They did mention that they were going to get a new shipment soon as they were sold out on a some styles) but you can get quality guitars for way cheaper than you would at guitar center for the exact same brand.
When I was there they had a generous sale on Breedlove guitars, which I took advantage of and now I own a guitar that I named "Au Chocolate" bc it sounds better than chocolate tastes. The staff polished the guitar and changed the strings for me for free before I purchased the guitar, instead of simply selling it to me as is, since it was scheduled to be touched up anyway. That shows good integrity.
They also have very good ukuleles. I recommend this place...
