Merrimack College — Local services in North Andover

After seeing what happened with a friend and Merrimack College, I feel obliged to not only make a gmail account but post a review here so people will understand the type of college they are getting involved with. The campus is lovely and the students are friendly and fun, but the management and financial aid sector needs a complete overhaul. A friend of mine appealed her financial aid award package due to new financial circumstances, and as a result, the college hiked up her tuition to FULL COST, and was not notified of this change until about a month or two before the bill was due. (Obviously hoping mommy and daddy would either fork over an obscene amount of money or cause her to take out loans that they would profit from). She was not permitted to speak to whatever "council" was reviewing her case, she was only allowed to send an email regarding her circumstances. (It's so much easier to say no to an email than a living breathing human being with a top notch GPA.) she was not notified of the "status" of her claim until three weeks before the start of classes, (after reaching out to her financial aid advisor several times) leaving her completely scrambling to transfer schools once she had learned that her request had been "carefully considered and denied." Bottom line, She was left feeling like a cash cow instead of a human being. think twice when you apply to difference colleges...

Easy money your missing out on. Merrimack why is the bookstore so hard to access during drop off days?Dropped off our freshman on 8/23. Window for drop off 4-6. Bookstore was closed when we were leaving. No problem we can go back on 8/24 in the morning quickly before we drive 4+ hours back to NJ. & pick up some school apparel. We arrived at around 10am. Drive to store and ALL parking lots are closed? Yes even the bookstore lot where the Dunkin is, the hockey rink and the bookstore are. So I asked a police officer who is driving around. Where can we park to run into the bookstore? She proceeds to tell me that ALL lots are closed and we have to park all the way down in a gravel parking lot way on the other side of campus and walk back. So no I did not go walk with my fake hip and bum knee & shop and spend money. I cannot for the life of me make ANY sense out of this. Merrimack you did everything so well every visit except this.... the school is missing out on so much easy money and advertising it's unreal that this is how it is. Sorry but when a parent or loved one drops off a student especially a freshman for the 1st time its not an easy day as some are leaving the home for the 1st time. I would think most people might want to run and grab something that says Merrimack to diaplay some school pride but you make that impossible. Sorry but still...

Most of students, professors and the staffs are very excellent. However a few students and are unfriendly. A few students are not telling the truth and harm international students. Moreover, some international students illegally work off the campus, but the school doesn't check strictly. Here is not located at city center. No many international students study here. If you are female, I don't recommend you come for study. Some international students do what they want and harass female students. However, there will no other students who have the same race can protect you or help you. When you really need help, the Andover police station is very very very far away from Merrimack College. The school's police department only be responsible for a small part of area. Many international students especially the male students are very lonely, so they would try to use many ways to harass an international female students. They don't have family in the United States. So they do anything they want. If you don't have financial problems. I recommend female students study in Boston city. If you need help, you can get help quicky. Many bad people live in the city, but also many kind people...
