"Today my husband and I were in the Lidl store 8849 Dorchester Rd, N. Charleston, SC. We are frequent shoppers at your store, and were loyal customers. We will never return after our experience today. We visited your bin that has the discounted items. We found 1 coco melon interactive toy book. IT was marked down 30% and was $6.98. Our granddaughter is a huge Cocomelon fan and we wanted to give her a prize. When we went through check out, the item wouldn't ring up. The cashier shared it was no longer in the inventory and he was not allowed to sell it to us. I checkily asked if He can just give it to us. (of course not!) My husband I have both worked retail, my husband was a Regional Manager for Best Buy, I was a merchanising assistant for the Limited stores. There is absolutely a way to enter in a sku number to ring up an item that is not inventory. We asked for a manager. The manager came and told us we were not able have the item, and I clarifed of course I don't want it for free, we want it rung up and we want to leave the store wiht it. He rather rudely in our opionion told us he can't do that, it wasn't in the inventory. I am sorry? so I said, then you can just give it to us? Because now I am mad. If it is not in inventory and no record of said item, why not? This is preposterous. And he said no that would not be possible, it is no longer in the store inventory and if he gave it to us he'd be in trouble. I told him, ring up MISC and override and enter the sku number. He told us he would be fired if he did this. He is not allowed. WE told him if we aren't allowed to purchase this item we will never return. He told us sorry to hear that but he can't sell us the item. This is a horrendous practice if you do not allow your managers to do an override! You have lost loyal customers who routinely shopped here for our goods and products. I am highly dispapointed in your customer service over a $6.89 item. Unbelievable."
The customer service and food quality has gone down exponentially the last few months. We had to return roast lamb because it was spoiled, the same day we purchased it! The store's employees have 0 customer service and are rude. Act like we are in the way of them while we are shopping. Today was the last day here. We would rather spend our money in a store like Publix or Harris Teeter and know we have quality and...
Read moreI did not go to the Dorchester Rd location, I ended up sticking with East James location, first of all…so this is more of an update rather than a new location. I still LOVE this store, but a few things have affected my previous five star rating. The last two times I have tried to have my items rung up, there were only self checkout registers available. They have been raising prices on a few items that I normally buy and was impressed with quality and price, the first that comes to mind is white bread that was $0.50 for the longest time! This is much less than Walmart and softer, just a better product than Walmart’s comparable loaf of Great Value bread. Lidl has now raised the price to $0.79, which is now more aligned with Walmart’s similar product. Lidl’s is still less expensive and better quality. Also, some prices have gone down a smidge. The one that comes to mind is a vegan offering of gyro meat in the freezer section, by Vemondo. It is over 10 ounces and is $2.49 and rather tasty!! Overall, Lidl is still great, but some prices, offerings and services lately have made me give it a new rating of 4. The location on St James Ave is so much more organized and much cleaner than the Aldi that is right up the road on St James, that store was a mess the...
Read moreI love Lidl! I found plenty of excellent quality groceries here and some great values in home goods as well! Their prices beat any other grocery store and Walmart/ Target for the same quality of food or better. This location does not have a self checkout option, and I did not like the way the cashier started ringing my items while the lady ahead of me still had raw chicken on the belt. She ended up pushing many of my items into the raw chicken packages AND crushed some of my produce in the process. I had my placed my items on the belt in an organized manner for easy and quick bagging, but she ended up making a giant mess of that by ringing my stuff so fast that it piled into the previous customer's items she was still trying to bag. I really hate the way Aldi rushes customers to check out, and this location's checkout felt the same way. Please install some self check out stations or train staff to consider their customers' abilities (the lady ahead of me was elderly) and bagging speed so that the usually fun Lidl visit is not ruined and items are not...
