Yesterday was our first trip to the dog park, and we left unhappy. There were entirely too many children in the dog park area. Climbing on the dog equipment as if it were a playground. Secondly, my dog was picked up 3 times by strangers. THREE TIMES I had to tell strangers to put my dog down. No one asked permission, and one was a young girl (10-15) and when I said "hey sweetheart please don't pick up my dog" her mother grumbled under her breath and gave me a dirty look. Our third complaint is a man told me to "keep and eye on" his dog because "he's not very nice to other dogs if he's bigger than them." I didn't know what to say, but why are you even at the park if your dog is mean to others? Our stay was about 30 minutes, and it was truly a bummer. I can't believe I even have to ask..... Please don't bring your kids to the dog park to play. Take them to the kids playground. The dog park is for dogs. Please don't touch other people's pets...

There are good days and bad. I first tried it about a year ago and my dog (1yr old, 60 lb mutt rescue) was over the moon. We've had a few not-so-good days but mostly it has been awesome, good dogs and good people. Here lately we've been running into more aggressive dogs and owners who do nothing to stop it. My dog will run to me and my 5 year old when she wants out of the pack. If the other, more aggressive dogs don't back off she will protect us. More and more we're running into people who do nothing but watch me defend against their dogs. Today was the last straw. Three dogs, including mine and she was baring teeth at both males as they desperately tried to hump her. She is fixed. One owner came to get her dog but the other just sat there. Its not just playing when they bark and growl and corner your dog. I'll definitely be trying...

So extremely disappointed in the North Charleston Rec Dept @ Wescott Park. My daughter plays on a softball team here. The rec departmentchanged the time of a game, and claimed they notified the coaches via email that the game was being moved up one hour. The one coach said she never got the email, and they had emailed the wrong email address for the other coach. Since neither coach was aware, my daughter's team automatically forfeited. All of the girls showed up to play, and were notified the game was forfeited. When we asked the rec department why they didn't call when they didn't get a response to the email, the response was that email is sufficient and that he didn't need to call to notify anyone. So extremely...

The baseball park is here and behind that you'll find a shaded picnic area and playground for the kiddos. There's even a pretty neat double swing for toddlers and the kid that never grew up in all of us. You'll get it when you see it. Keep on going for the dog parks. Separate areas for small and large dogs, water faucets and buckets. There's a few muddy spots at the far end of the large area other than that it's artificial turf. Benches and shade awnings for the humans. There's another shaded picnic area and volleyball court.

This is a beautiful, well-planned space. Two thousand+ acres of three regulation baseball/softball fields, practice fields, a dog park, picnic shelters, an adult workout equipment area, walking trails, and plenty of parking! This would be a great place to hold an event, celebrate a birthday, or any type of gathering with friends & family, or a great way to spend an afternoon. With abundant places to rest, plenty of green space, and restroom facilities nearby, this is a great community park!

I recently visited this park and had a wonderful experience. The park was well-maintained with lots of green grass and plenty of trees for shade. The playground equipment was fun and safe and there were plenty of benches and picnic tables for a nice lunch. The walking trail was beautiful with lots of plants. Overall, this park was a great place to spend the day and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and relaxing experience.
