I had the most horrible experience here! I found this salon on Google and tried it due to the great reviews and the fact they advertise for curly hair, so that is why I feel the need to write this honest review! I will first start off by saying Chloe did an amazing job on my daughter's hair, so I had high hopes for mine. I went in for a curly cut and a canvas cleanse. I was told to have my hair styled as I usually do so that when I show up so they could assess my curl type, style, etc. and first cut it dry. Well, I showed up and was immediately told I needed to wash out my product, that my hair was not curly enough to first cut dry, so ok, I let that one slide. Kate washed my hair, Nicole cut my hair. I had to endure being told by Nicole the hair products I used were horrible just so they could talk up their products which I also let slide because I had already purchased some of their products for my daughter. I had to endure being told I had a "tail" because I had confessed that I had been cutting my own hair for the past two years. Mind you, I know what my cut looked like and although I am not a professional, I definitely loved my hair before I decided to treat myself to a change. Let that slide. I showed Nicole pictures of what I wanted. She understood I wanted a "full bottom", but then told me the front would be shorter. I responded I did not want the front short because it frizzes up. I wanted smooth, low volume waves and got the frizziest, biggest pouf ever. When I had told her to not scrunch my hair it was laughed off by her and she had tousled and diffused me into looking like something horrific from the 1980's. When she was done I told her "this is what I was trying to avoid", and she just sprayed my hair with water and tried to tell me I had defined curls. I now have very short pieces of hair in the front. When I was leaving I tried to purchase the same products as my daughter, but Nicole told me the curl cream was primer and cream in one, when Chloe sold us anti humidity primer and curl cream for my daughter's curls. My hair looked so bad I could have cried. I called to complain and Kate asked if I could come in that day to fix it. After spending 2 hours there I said I'd have to wait, then called back to change my mind and go there that day. Then I get a call from the receptionist saying I'd have to wait because they messed up scheduling. Then Kate calls me back and says I can get it fixed that day. Kate had two clients plus me there after the salon had been closed when I showed up, which to me suggests this place is mismanaged. Kate tells me I received the wrong haircut for my hair, that volumizing hair products were used on me, and that my Cantu curl cream was actually perfect for my hair. Kate tells the girl working with her to use a cream to wash out Nicole's product, and to do that twice. The girl couldn't get the product out of the bottle and then only washes my hair with it once, however I will say she gave me the best head massage ever. But still, really? Then Kate tries to fix my hair but ultimately I have to grow out what Nicole did. On top of that the smell of their products were too strong for me, and even after I washed it out immediately that night I can still somewhat smell it, which has never happened to me in my life. I was refunded my haircut and even though Kate offered to do my hair for free until it's where I want it to be, my daughter and I will...
Read moreIn a pinch and looking for a new hairstylist with availability within the week, jumped on Google to search for salons in the area with decent reviews. Salon Space popped into the list and I clicked on their link. First think I noticed was the "Book Appointment" button. "Great! I can see if they have availability without calling, waiting on hold, and then going through my calendar with them!" There was an appointment available for same day. I booked it immediately, ready to take a chance. Same day availability means not-so-good stylist with plenty of time on their hands, right? Well, I hit the jackpot! Due to a scheduling error, the stylist I booked wasn't there but the owner/magician chose to see me herself! Kate is an absolute GEM! She knows her stuff from hair biology, to growth patterns, to textures and face shapes. She cleaned up my 4-months-overdue mop and never once complained that I have more hair than a fully grown Yeti. I'll be back again and again and again forever until Kate dies or disappears. Gold stars also for Kendall who helped mix the endless amount of color needed for my hair and Lisa who gives the ultimate...
