Adelphia Cafe — Restaurant in North Haven

In times like these we crave comfort - we look for safe places, and more than ever we seek perfection. Well, good luck finding that! 🤣 We were thinking... breakfast for dinner 😋; we looked for a diner just in case a burger sounded even better than PANCAKES 🤔 once we sat to order. Adelphia Cafe popped up on my google search, had some positive reviews, and was in the right spot for our consideration. We gave it a shot... and we were not at all disappointed. Family owned and operated, we were greeted with a smile upon our arrival and sat a table that was lemony fresh (sanitized for sure peeps!). The waitress came immediately to take our drink orders, and gave us the time needed to study the menu without pressure. We looked over all the options (typical diner menu - expansive) and we decided on breakfast with a twist. We ordered home made challah bread french toast, pancakes with bacon... and the most savory and delicious DISCO FRIES EVER!!! (Crispy french fries drowned in gravy, cheese, and bacon). They were weirdly enough the perfect compliment to our breakfast dishes... and there were but 3 strays of potato remaining when we finished 🥰. Overall rating of 5 was definitely earned: great food, wonderful service, clean and sanitized environment, fair pricing. The food was pretty good. I had the Western omelette and my dad had the Greek omelette. The most disturbing part was the ending when my dad went to pay. The old lady who checked us out was EXTREMELY RUDE. She was very short with her answers. I went to use the restroom while my dad paid and when I came out, I asked her if my dad had also went to the restroom. Her rude response was “ IDK, I was helping other people” … The irony of it all—my dad had asked her if he could sit his leftovers on the counter while he used the restroom— which means she was just being mean, intentionally… but why??? Racism is always my first thought— What a shame, especially since it was July 4th, and my birthday, as well. It definitely put a bad taste in my mouth and I’ll never be back…so unfortunate, especially since the waitress and what I’ll assume was the owner were...

Smaller place, was busy around noon on a Saturday (which is good). Our waitress was very friendly and was always around if we needed her. There was 6 of us and all of our food came out pretty fast, considering how busy it was! I'm pretty sure I got the Southwestern wrap, but I could be wrong on the name. Anyways, it was very filling and flavorful. The taste was fresh and packed a punch. I recommend asking to go light on red onion, if you do not like too much of it. Personally I love red onion, but there was a good amount in here that may turn people off. My friends had different food, such as pancakes and French toast, definitely no complaints!
