The word "fair" should be nowhere near this place. I took a brand new item that I had a receipt for (rigid drain cleaner from.home depot). I was forced into store credit from home depot, so I bought a Rigid pro drain cleaner for $544.64. The receipt was a week old. Item was brand new never opened. This could be been returned and the $544 used on anything home depot sells. The guy working offered me $165.....I laughed and walked out. Basically was offered 27% of the items value. Another customer that came in before me and walked out after me, said he was offered $15 for his $400 watch. Needless to say, we both took our business elsewhere. I went down the street 5 miles to Jake's haggle hut, and was offered double what this place offered. They know if.your bringing items to sell, tour either on hard times, or (they hope) your a crackhead selling stolen stuff. Avoid this place. Their prices on tools were sky high, on used beat up stuff. Anything new was priced higher then the big box stores. Places like this prey on the community's and people they serve. I understand they need to make money, but offering 10%-20% of an items value is just legalized theft. You should be paid 50-60% of the value of your item if it's not jewelry or precious metal. For jewelry and gold, silver and so on, 85%-90% of the value is fair. These guys are looking to prey on people. Period. My experience was the same as others, so its not an isolated incident, it's how they do business. Also, they don't give loans on items as collateral, so they shouldn't be calling themselves a pawn shop. Pawn shops take items as collateral and give loans, this...
Read moreThis is not your typical buy , sell and trade type pawn shop in the Pittsburgh area. The owner and staff are very knowledgeable, fair and friendly to deal with in a location that is clean and safe.If your looking for a chumley type guy who likes to play games and take advantage of you then this is NOT the place for you. I was treated fair and with respect and received close to what I felt my items were worth. I also found a couple of good deals on some items for less than half of what the big box stores charge. The only negative was the limited inventory on some items i was looking for but that is to be expected from a relative new business. The owner personally took down my name and phone number along with my wish list and told me he would call when the items...
Read more3 times 3 strikes! All 3 times I was offered 15% to 30% of items values. Don’t waste your time just sell online! This business should move to Mckeesport because I think their business model would fit better there than NHT! Can’t understand why they used the word fair in their business name??? If your dealing in jewelry or metals go see Ed at CIA’s across the street. Guns go see Pete’s firearms also for gold and silver. Pawn items check out Jake’s Haggle Hut. All these people are fair and do good business! Shame...
