dO wood fired — Restaurant in Irwin

Wow. If the delicious, wood-fire smells isn’t enough to lure you in, surely the friendly service and great food will. Traveling from the other side of the state to the next-door Fleatique, my partner absolutely needed to satisfy her taste buds because of the aroma permeating the town. Boy were we pleasantly surprised. She got the gluten-free pizza and the crust was actually good - something that’s hard to find. I was boring and got a salad but it was huge (at least triple the size of Saladworks). And the bacon was wood-fired :) To top it all off (with the limitless toppings, I might add), our waiter was so super friendly to us out-of-towners that he really made a spontaneous stop one that we’ll remember. We will definitely need to stop here again next time we are traveling/road tripping around or through the area. Thank you for your kindness and...

Seating isn't my fave and kinda heavy in smoke smell which is natural. Both times I ate there, I felt they were a LITTLE skimpy on toppings, but since I didn't take pics of the first time, I'll just talk about this time.

Wishing there were a few more toppings .. namely the mushroom on my sunshine special, I think it's called, which was a add on. And in general, for the other pizza. Other than that, it was pleasing to look at. When I took a bite, I tasted burnt .. i was confused, so I looked under, and it's darker than it should be. Is it edible ... yes. Surprisingly, not all the bites had a burnt taste... try figuring that out based on the pics. Overall, they were tasty. And I'll go back. I understand those ovens are like 700 degrees, and seconds in it make a difference. I'm not mad even with some of those burnt bites....

We loved the food and were glad we decided to drive a few minutes past all the chain restaurants that were right off the freeway to get here. The service was great with helpful and friendly staff. We ordered a chicken pecan salad and 2 pizzas and enjoyed everything. It is nice how you can get unlimited toppings, so we picked one of the suggested options (Dave's special, yum!) and loaded up the other one with all our favorite things. My daughter loved watching the cooks spin the pizza dough and they were great about explaining what they were doing to her. 4 stars instead of 5 only because the bathroom didn't have a changing table and that's super inconvenient with 2 kids in diapers :( If we are in the area again, we will...
