Ever since I moved back to RI in May (2022), I’ve noticed that all of the Stop & Shops have really declined in terms of their service and overall quality of the stores in general. I don’t think that they bother to replenish their inventory more than once every 6-8 weeks, at best, as I’d been waiting for my local store to restock a couple of specific products for months, and eventually just stopped going because it seemed they had no intention to ever do so.
Another big issue for me as an ice cream fanatic is that their ice cream is always freezer burnt, if you’re lucky enough to successfully extract one from the icy glacier of frost buildup in which it has been frozen. Bring an ice pick!
Moreover, the icing on the proverbial cake for me was that literally every single time I’ve tried to go to one in the past month, I’ve arrived to find them closed prior to the posted hours. For a while, I think it was just because they changed them and never updated their website or Google with that information, but the most recent time it happened to me, today, it was just before 10pm, which I believe is the accurate closing time, and they just locked up five minutes early.
Granted, I do realize that it is a social faux pas to arrive at a retail destination so close to when they close, but nonetheless, I feel it is also taboo & inconsiderate to advertise a specific closing time that results in people driving out of their way, 30 minutes round trip in my case, and then fail to honor that commitment. Perhaps this review will motivate them to consider that the 5 minutes they saved, and which I’m sure they felt entitled to as underpaid workers of awful jobs, cost me a half hour… Or, better yet, perhaps Stop & Shop could fork up the resources to properly staff their store and properly compensate said staff instead so things like this won’t continue to cost them customers, because at this point I am not even going to bother trying to go to their stores anymore. It’s too hit or miss...
Read moreI have been in retail my whole life. I understand the challenges of managing a retail location and find this location lacking in many regards: Staff The staff tend to be unfriendly and Un customer service oriented. U-boats full of merchandise block aisles (especially in dairy and produce) while workers load the shelves. I have heard the colorful language of the women in the florist shop and a gentleman in produce who berates those around him. I recently asked a woman about an item. She wore a grey untucked Stop n Shop shirt. She was very clearly annoyed that I was interrupting her day. Stock I understand that Covid has made stock levels drop, but somethings are woefully short despite this. Meat, good luck getting a specific cut of meat. In stock levels are low and ever changing. The Meat managers excuse is “we can only put out what they send us”. Produce is poor too. They have had a 6 foot table of peanuts out for months because they don’t have enough produce. I know this because at Dave’s marketplace they have an abundance of produce. It’s out there and available but not at Stop n Shop. Senior management. I’m not sure who the Store Manager is just now. It was a guy for while, now it seems to be a woman. They are not on the floor enough. I wish they would spend more time, on the floor, talking to customers, fixing things etc. It’s one step toward a great store. I am the father of 4 kids. We have a big food bill every week. We have since left S&S for Dave’s in Wickford. We pay more, but it is worth it because we will get everything we need every week and we will deal with friendly/educated store ...
Read moreThis is by far the worst Stop & Shop that I’ve been to. I go there this evening to buy things I spent over $200 to have three teenage boys that work there up at the front swearing at the registers and I go to buy something and it’s not properly marked pricewise I get the store manager and he tells me there’s nothing he can do about it that it’s marked properly by far the worst Stop & Shop that I’ve been to very unprofessional there is a tag on the same shelf that says $21.99 I was charged $38.99 and when I brought it to the managers attention, he looked at me like I was crazy and that it was my fault by far the worst Stop & Shop you don’t get treated like this at Market Basket and to top it off and what makes the situation worse is the manager just walked away didn’t apologize nothing he did nothing about it. He walked away from me not only did he walk away from me he didn’t fix the price on the shelf he left it like it was. But just like everywhere else nothing will get done about it. Besides continuing to lose customers very sad Stop & Shop was...
