WWBeds review Alpine Murphy Bed with Stay Level Desk 4/21/2025
It’s hard to believe I started my correspondence with Katelyn at WWBeds almost a year ago on 4/23/2024, and we just set up our bed in our new ADU (Accessory Dwelling Unit) this weekend.
Our daughter and her two children live with us. Our 4 bedroom colonial was not meeting our needs. We have added a small 2 bedroom/2 bath home on our property so my wife and I can have our own quiet space. Due to the restrictions in town on the size of the addition (1000 sq. feet) and the configuration of our property and setback restrictions, our second bedroom is both small and unusually shaped. A Murphy bed seemed like a good solution to provide a desk/office setup most of the time, while providing a queen bed for our guests.
While we initially thought that the quote from WWBeds was expensive due to the shipping cost, when we looked at other options we discovered this was a much more flexible and higher quality option after all.
As we were working out the design of the Murphy bed, the design of our ADU home kept changing, and it seemed like a never-ending cycle of changes. Throughout the process, Katelyn was always very responsive to my email questions, and provided very detailed information about prices, options, and also the exact size of the bed with different options. At one point, we had to cut off a corner of our house design to accommodate a setback restriction. We were still able to include a single bookcase with the bed instead of two, but we had to narrow the size of the bookcase from 22” to 20” to 17”. Throughout the dozens of back and forth emails, Katelyn was always very helpful, though I’m sure she thought we would never settle on a design.
Once we did settle on a design, things moved very smoothly and quickly. We got detailed plans, and we again asked for some modifications. The resulting bookcase size meant our printer would have to sit sideways in the cabinet, but Chris was great in modifying the bookcase design to provide a cutout on the back for the printer.
The actual construction of the bed moved much more quickly than our house construction. Chris sent us pictures of the finished bed, and we were able to delay the shipment a few weeks due to construction delays on our side.
The shipping went very smoothly. Chris sent pictures of our bed wrapped up for shipping on a pallet, and I was able to track the shipment from Arkansas all the way to our home in Massachusetts. The driver unloaded the pallet into our garage. So delivery was no hassle at all. That pallet sat in our garage for weeks until we got permission to move it into the house and set it up.
This week, my wife and I set up/re-constructed the bed. It took us a couple of days from start to finish. The directions were great, they were very detailed, and the links to YouTube videos were very helpful. I got stuck at one point on the wiring for the lights, but Katelyn was able to quickly resolve the issue over the phone. The most difficult part was setting the face/bed platform into the springs. It was a bit too heavy for my wife, so I needed an extra helping hand. Everything else was pretty straightforward. It helped that it was partially assembled, and that all the screw holes were already in place.
We are very pleased with the way the bed looks, and the operation of the bed is very smooth and easy to convert from desk to bed and back again. Everyone at WWBeds was always very helpful and accommodating. It was a wonderful experience from...
Read moreWe moved into a new house and couldn't have two guest rooms because one of the bedrooms is being used as an office, but we still needed an extra bed for when guests come. Someone mentioned to us about doing a murphy bed. So I started searching the internet and came across WWBeds Custom Furnture, and my search stopped there. I was so impressed by the website and video that I knew this was the company to use. Katelyn and Chris were super helpful with answering all of our questions and explaining how the process works from start to finish if we decided to order one. One of the beds that was on display in their showroom "The Marriott" with the red chestnut finish, bookshelves on each side was the one we chose but we also added the sofa with storage as well. After a few tweaks we had everything figured out and ready to get the order placed and put on the schedule. We were very surprised when Katelyn called saying that they were ahead of schedule and the bed was done and ready for delivery. Chris and one of his employees delivered and installed the bed after work during the week. We love our new murphy bed and have had many compliments from our neighbors & friends. In fact one of our neighbors was so impressed by it that they are going to have one made once their new house is done being built. You will not be disappointed by WWBeds, you'll just have a hard time deciding which one you want and how you want it made. They make heirlooms that should be kept in the family and will last forever. The only thing you may have to replace over time is a new mattress. We would and have highly recommeded WWBeds...

They make great furniture. Really 5 stars on the front end of the process, from design to finished product.
Unfortunately getting the furniture to someone's home and setting reasonable expectations for installation are equally as important. I give 0 stars on that front. Zero times 5 equals 1 star in my case.
My delivery (~$1k) resulted in 700 pounds of furniture being dropped off in the street on a pallet. That in itself just isn't acceptable to me. I would gladly have paid more to have it brought (off the street) into my home. It took +3 people to move it into my home, and 4 to get it up stairs.
I hired a handyman for installation, he said he'd installed Murphy beds before so he wasn't a novice. The installation instructions were subpar and resulted in both him and I getting injured (big warning was on... the next page). Their website describes installation as a DIY project, it is definitely not. By the end, both the furniture and we were damaged.
For $10,000, I would recommend they offer a white gloved delivery service and better installation instructions. While my Murphy bed is well built, it has some damage from install, my baseboard was ruined during install, and my ankle is still hurting (10 weeks later). In hindsight, I'd recommend going with a company that offers a better...
