First and last time I ever visit this store. Stoped on our way home from an Amusement Park down the road to pick up a few things for dinner. I literally got 6 or 7 small items to make spaghetti. They employ a bagger at this store in addition to the cashier so you would think service would be spot on. Bagger hands me my bag and I proceed to drive my 35 minute drive home to feed my very tired, very cranky kids dinner. Halfway through cooking I notice that the 2 packages of hamburger, a viral part of spaghetti, were not in the bag. So Iâm thinking how in the world could this person have forgot to put the hamburger in when that was their sol job and I only had a couple of items. Call the store and sure enough he forgot to put the hamburger in the bag. So no big deal right?, just run back up and grab it. Wrong. Now I have to put all the food I started cooking away and drive 35 minutes back up there. Manager is aware of this and tells me he will make up for our troubles. While Iâm waiting my wife calls and tells me that she has opened the heavy whipping cream that I bought from there and it is full of rotten expired chunksđ¤˘. I proceeded to relay this message to the staff and show them a picture and the response I got was â your not the first person that has returned that for the same reasonâ. So Iâm thinking Yet it still remains on the shelfđŹđ¤˘ Gross. As Iâm waiting for the manager to gather up the hamburger that apparently was put back on the shelf, I run over and grab 4 apples and put them in a bag. Manager comes back with the bag of hamburger and a generic brand of heavy whipping cream. Never offering to refund the price difference from the name brand I previously had. I then proceed to stand in line and pay for my 4 apples. I wasnât offered a gift card, a refund, or even my apples for the inconvenience they had caused. I get home and unpack the bag to discover apparently the managers way of âmaking things rightâ was to give me 1 T Bone steak with a sell by date of the 16th. Which means that it was about to either get thrown out or marked down in price. I did not ask for this steak, nor do I want this steak. I dont even like steak. Not to mention I have a family of 7 and not about to eat a steak in front of them. The fact that the store took it upon themselves to give me a next to expired steak for THEIR mistakes hardly makes up for my troubles. The steak doesnât put gas that I used making 2 trips to the store, doesnât give me back my time, my missed non existent dinner and doesnât put my kids to bed at their normal school night time. I will...
Read moreI was at Harding's in N. Muskegon on Friday 8/15 I was in in the week before to get a Sara Lee pie they had cherry and blueberry I called my husband and asked him what he wanted he said cherry and we'll get blueberry next week. So I looked up Harding's website to see if they got them in yet, it said it was in stock so we went. I went straight to the frozen pies and they didn't have any out so I asked the lady that was stocking the stuff behind me so I asked her (turned out she was the store manager) and she said "we don't sell those pies" I told her I was in the week before and they had them and if she could check the freezer in the back, she gave me a look like I asked her to move a mountain or something, but she said they don't have any I said but can you still look? So she did came back like 30 seconds later and with the rudest attitude she told me we don't have any. For a store manager she needs a attitude adjustment. She was very mean I will not ask her for anything because she doesn't know what she's...
Read more100%! I found a nice selection of tomatoes on the vine, grapes and other fresh produce, lots of Michigan brands (I like to shop âlocalâ), and good variety of packaged foods. But the best part is how quick and easy it is getting in and out of the store. Unlike the big box stores, every parking spot is a good one at Hardingâs, foot traffic flows smoothly throughout the aisles and you can actually FIND the help when you need it. Will be back! Update: I grew up in Muskegon, moved away, but whenever I visit, this is where I like to buy groceries. Neighborhood supermarkets like Harding's are getting harder to find; a decade or so ago, Muskegon had its own chain of markets. Now if you need groceries, you have to drive several miles out of your way to one of 2 big box chains. This store creates jobs, and they support local nonprofits and charities like Special Olympics and Autism Treatment & Research. Please support this...
