First, the GOOD news...Publix supermarket is coming to that area! Right on the corner of 82nd Pkwy and Kings Hwy, where I saw the construction sign! Back to the BAD NEWS: This branch of Kroger. This store is disgraceful. I just moved to the area this past year, and although I live closer to the Food Lion (which is catty corner to the future Publix), I thought this Kroger would be more classy and cleaner. I was WRONG. First, this store is so ridiculously narrow in the aisles that you feel like you're shopping in a D'Agostino's in New York City. The whole store is currently a mess, and who knows what the construction and dust in the store is for. But my complaint is mainly due to the PERSONNEL in the store. A few weeks ago, all Krogers had a Week of Freebies, where you can a freebie every day for 7 days by signing into your account and loading the coupons for them. I did so and saved them all to get on one shopping trip. As my husband and I were checking out, there was a snotty young man who I believe is a stock boy and/or bagger, and he rudely sauntered over to the end of the register, and was singing a song he made up, with lyrics that were something such as "I love dem freebies, gotta get me some freebies" while snickering. Then another young man who seemed friendly with him walked over and joined him in singing this jingle, now while laughing out loud, poking fun at us. Is this how this Kroger likes to treat their customers? Apparently so, because the moderately heavyset woman with the short darkish hair who often parades around the front of the store near the registers (a manager, I assume) heard them and said absolutely nothing to them! The employees at the front of the store are all useless, as I've asked questions of them and for help on some things in the past and they just tell you to wait and never return, leaving you there standing in the front of the store while you're food defrosts. How can Kroger hire such incompetent employees? This is the one Kroger in the area that should have closed a long time ago. It attracts quite a bit of transient riff-raff as well, and lots of vacationing families whose children just run all around the store, banging into people's carts, while the personnel say nothing. It makes me wonder in what areas they are incompetent and put up with other substandard things, like the FOOD QUALITY. I guess the employees have nothing better to do than cruise around the front of the store like they're on a break, looking to entertain themselves, while Kroger continues to pay them a salary for doing so. That was the last day I went to that store, and headed out to Food Lion on my next trip. But then I saw the construction sign for PUBLIX opening very soon, the BEST supermarket in the southeast, BAR NONE. I used to shop there for YEARS. Best bakery, Boars Head cold cuts, FRESH EVERYTHING, and BEST attitute toward customers in the retail world. There IS a GOD, and he visited Myrtle Beach!!! See you there at the...
Read moreWent shopping today at krogers in galleria plaza myrtle beach sc. Checked out at a employee checkout. Noticed an overcharge and went to customer service. It was about 9:30 am on 4/8/24. I explained to the customer service girl about descepency and she said it was the marked down vegetables I purchased and instead of charging one price she charged me 4 times. She said I rung it up wrong. I said your girl over there rung it up wrong not me. She gave a credit toward my credit card without even saying I am sorry. If she would look at the receipt she would see it was an employee not me that rung it up wrong. This store has made too many mistakes for me to go back. She did give me the reason the girl made the mistake. She was a new employee that had been on a register for 28 minutes. She had no trainer. I guess that was the Kroger customer service persons answer to me. UPDATE 4/23/2024 This review was posted 4/8/24 and have heard nothing from Krogers. I Guess they have too many customers or really don't care how loyal customers are treated. I think no reaction is the norm now days. UPDATE 4/30/2024. Went to Krogers again today and they tried to cheat me again today. I got a ham that was on clearance for half off. I was at self checkout and I noticed the ham was charged full price instead of clearance. I contacted Marvin which is an outstanding employee and he called meat depth and the meat man came to self checkout and said there was no clearance ham. I said yes there is, I asked if he had time to go back to where I got the ham and he said yes. We got to the hams and he said I was correct and the hams are going to be discontinued. He went back to the self checkout where I was checking out and Marvin tried about 6 times to have the clearance item reduced, then finally he got the correct clearance price. This cost me 10 minutes of my day which I will never get back. Seems like Kroger is in a habit of fraud ing the customer. If it would have been someone else they might not have noticed. If I do not hear back from corporate, I guess I will have to go to Consumer Affairs federal/state. If you look at my original post you will see the pattern. This has happened many times, that is why I am starting to post their lack of treating the...
Read moreBeen a Kroger's shopper for years. Went to this one from NC and expected it to be great like the rest. Nope. The shelves we're barren, the produce was subpar, and the staff looked like they were all depressed. Figured it was a bad day. Went to self checkout since it's easier for me. The old, white-haired lady that was running it on 9-22-17 at about 4:30-5:30 was terribly rude. She helped my grandmom check out and was nice. I was scanning my stuff and went to pick up my bags, like always, and got the error sign pop up. It said to putting the bag back, so I did. Still nothing. So it called the lady over to me and she acted like it was a hassle. It happened again, which I get is my fault, but be a bit less rude when you help customers. I may be young, but I work in customer service and it's not hard to put a smile on. Even with difficult customers. Then, I went to pay and scan in coupons. I scanned it in again, the lady was called over to me. Same rude attitude as before. Snatched the coupon out of my hand and said that I couldn't scan in coupons. She slammed her ID across the pad and scanned in my coupons quickly. Rude as all get out. I will NEVER shop at this location again. I love Kroger's, but if This location does not improve it will tank. Especially, with employees like that...
