Generally fair with prices, and a good selection when it comes to both video games, tabletop and collectibles, They are also willing to negotiate prices on used items and trade in on occassion. Owner and Staff are friendly and casual, and usually know a lot about the products they sell. Holds are reliable (just don't abuse them), and requests for certain things to come is an option they consider and can search for sometimes, which is also great. Fairly cozy and casual atmosphere, good hours during the week, and frequently host events - normally game nights for customers of tcg - which they tend to cater themselves as an extra mile.
However- trade in can be hit or miss (figurines are no gos unless it's skylanders/amiibo - i.e. a peripheral), sometimes the packaging can be a bit damaged for what you pay for, and price increase on certain games they recieve can be a bit huge, (300 for a game that's 70 new elsewhere, though thats the only especially egregious instance).
on a personal note: I felt a little cheated when I found a sticker price on a Dreamcast Sonic Adventure that was 20.00 since it had been there a while; a good find. I brought it up to the counter for purchase, and they raised it from 20 sticker price to 60. Right before check out. I know they need to make profit, but that was a little upsetting.
Update: found a manual for "XD: Gale of Darkness" among all their other manuals at a set price in a box. They AGAIN looked it up and upped its price to 60 instead of honoring the usual 5 dollar price for where it was placed loose.
They need to go through their merch, because upping the price right at the check out counter is a bad look. Especially now that it has happened twice at the same location.
Not the norm, and the pros usually outweigh the cons, but that's something really watch out for if you find something that seems like a great...
Read moreI'm Beckham Miya. On a different account two years ago, I gave game grid a one star review. I was very, very, wrong. Tried deleting/changing the review but google won't let me, so I'm making this now.
I play D&D 5E with my friends twice a week, and sometimes I'm in need of monster cards, figurines, and dice, the staff are always helpful and welcoming, and I love only paying five bucks for a pretty set of dice.
The good service doesn't end with TTRPGs, as they were willing to put Tears of the Kingdom on hold for me so that I could get a hold of some games from home to trade in, and they were very understanding that I forgot to bring them the first two times.
Thanks for existing game grid, sorry that me two years ago was such an idiot, love you guys!
Six Month Update: I wanted to once more talk of my experience with game grid six months after I made this review. They continue to be extremely helpful and friendly, providing insights to make sure customers get the most bang for their buck. I recently picked up some MTG lord of the rings precon decks, card sleeves, playmats, and deck boxes, and they reccomended I chose dragonshield sleeves over ultrapro, as the draganshields are more durable and have a better feel for the same price. They also didn't have the precons on display anywhere but when I asked if they had any of those decks in stock they dug them out of some boxes for me.
I also noticed while researching the decks I was looking for that the stuff they had was at least $10 cheaper than amazon and other online shipping services, so it's nice to not get a dreadfully high markup.
Jamie and his staff have once more proven to be a massive help as I enter a new hobby with my friends, and our whole group constantly sings the praises of game grid. Thanks for being such an...
Read moreCame here a few days ago and it was amazing! I've been to game stores from Ogden to Salt Lake and this has been the best one out of all of them. They have great prices, very competitive prices where I actually trust most of their pricing. I'll usually check prices online before I buy anything and they've lived up to, have cheaper or just a tad bit more expensive (usually $1- $3) than online places such as ebay and Wal-Mart. I'd rather put the money into local economy so a couple of dollars isn't a big deal to me, that's still less than shipping anyways. I got a pretty good haul when I came. A N64 and PS2 set. I was super happy with the prices and what they came with. N64 was around $75 for a clear turquoise color and a white PS2 for $40!! They both came with one new controller, the N64 had a matching new color controller, and PS2 had a black, which also came with a new memory card!!! Amazing prices!! I've been to a couple of game stores that had stacks of PS2s and N64s and they were each $20 more without the new stuff! They were also pretty busy! It was a game night and it was pretty full but that didn't deter away customer service! The customer service was awesome. Everytime I come to Ogden, I'll be sure to visit...
