Would like to share my recent experiences during my mom's stay at Lincolnwood. Can only characterize it as outstanding. The facility itself is so clean, warm and inviting. It is obvious that it is everyone's responsibility to ensure it is clean and smells clean.
The people make the difference at Lincolnwood. Everyone is so friendly and accommodating and caring. In my mom's case, she was there for a short term - only about 6 weeks until she passed. The care, compassion and dignity my mom received was unsurpassed compared to any other nursing care facilities my mom had been at in the past. It is very clear that excellent care and attention to the human factor are a top-down priority for Lincolnwood as no matter who we or mom dealt with, we received the same level of excellence.
The CNA's in particular, are a very special group of people at Lincolnwood, all share and exemplify the same levels of care and compassion, while providing the highest levels of dignity we've ever witnessed. The extra efforts to accommodate my mom's dwindling appetite by the Dietary staff and CNA's was done in such a caring way. The acknowledgement of Mom's limited physical capabilities were acknowledged and adjusted by the Physical Therapy team to help provide the best quality of life possible given her limited time left.
The next chapter as mom was in her final days was where additional focus on the family became evident. In her final 3 days, Mom was moved to a private room where we could all spend as much time with her as we liked, around the clock, sometimes as many as 10 or more of us slept there to be with mom. Not only mom's needs were attended to, but this staff went out of their way to make us as comfortable as possible, but were also very attentive to our emotional needs as well.
I have a strong sense that what I've described above is the norm for Lincolnwood and would highly recommend this facility for either short or long term needs for a family member...
Read moreI spent 47 days here rehabbing from a major surgery. I found good and bad in the place. The Good... First off most of the nurses there are amazing! Special thanks to Tanisha, Sydney,Haley,Val and Aisha to name a few but going out of the way and making me smile during a very hard time. It didn't go unnoticed and was greatly appreciated! You ladies are the glue that holds that place together. The place is clean and tidy! The rehabilitation staff is top-notch! I felt they went out of their way to help me physically become better!
The Bad... My biggest complain about this place is the kitchen. Healing from a diabetic wound while constantly being fed Pizza chicken fingers french fries ice cream pudding and tons of carbs raised my sugar and slowed down my healing. Although I brought up the issue to the kitchen manager on several occasions and was strictly on a diabetic diet I never got one unless I sent the food back or went without! Either they didn't know what a diabetic diet was or they didn't care! Either way it's bad on them! Communication was horrible! Two different occasions I had doctor's appointments that were booked for me and I was never told about. I had a van show up to pick me up with no knowledge of a doctor's appointment. They even made an appointment for me after I was released and never told me about it! At one point I contracted a pretty good cold. I asked for some cold medicine. I got the runaround for a week and never received it! Finally the cold went away!
If it was just the nurses that took special care of me I would give this place 10 stars! With all the other stuff I had to deal with there's no way I couldn't give it five. I won't even get into the issues my roommate went through! Four...
Read moreI rarely post reviews and I understand some assisted living facilities are a hit and miss when it comes to your loved ones personal care. I also understand a lot of facilities are short staffed. What I don't condone is the careless and insensitive behavior some workers at this facility have especially towards people that cant advocate for themselves. This review is mainly for night staff but some day staff are very much guilty of it too. If you do not like your job. Then go find something else to do. The way my grandmother has been talked to when she buzz's for help and also the fact that her personal care products go "missing". Is quite beyond words. We have had her phone charger stolen twice and this is how she connects with family when we aren't physically there. And all staff could say is sorry. Those things seem minuscule but what was completely unacceptable was that she was left 25 mins in the bathroom/shower area. Whoever was suppose to take care of her tried to rush her to hurry up and go to the bathroom and she needed time. She also needs her oxygen tank wherever she goes. Unfortunately that day took a turn for the worst and she is now being hospitalized and is now thank God no longer at that facility. I pray your family is taken better care if you are reading this and have loved ones there. It's unfortunate our...
