Wish I could give 10 stars or more because this place really is that good. My mother and I wanted some feel-good food for Labor Day weekend after dieting a lot. She had heard good things, so I called up Uncle Mike's to place an order. The absolute sweetest, most incredible woman answered the phone, and we bonded over cheat meals and self-inflicted dieting restrictions. She beat me to it and said "I'll throw in some extra sauce" for each thing I ordered and gave amazing recommendations. When I stopped to get my food, there was plenty of parking, but the place was PACKED -- a wonderful sign that neighbors go out of their way to walk over to enjoy the atmosphere. The place is bright and reminiscent of a diner, and despite the crowd I was greeted and asked if I'd like a table immediately. My food was brought to me within seconds and after some more talk, I was introduced to Uncle Mike himself who was working at the counter. As a thank you for my patronage, he threw in some of his fresh batch of clam chowder. Each takeout box was handled with care for transport and adorned with smiley faces drawn in pen. We got the most incredible portions of a shaved steak sandwich oozing with cheese, fresh cut steak fries, crispy golden battered fish and chips (on a Saturday!), and we even ordered a pound of spaghetti with 3 homemade, delicious meatballs for later. The chowder was piping hot and creamy, too.
Thanks for moving to our neighborhood, Uncle Mike and crew. Your hospitality was extraordinary and your chefs and wait staff are some of the best around. My mother, friends, family, and I will be back to enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner specials often!...
Read moreMy daughter and her friend came here for breakfast on 6/9 as this is finals week for the high-school. Their bill came to $31.44 which they split. They both paid using pre-loaded debit cards, which is not something they typically do, especially not in sit-down restaurant settings. Typically, they use cash. They paid and left but did not tip. Not because they didn’t want to, they just didn’t know the tip can be added on after the card is swiped. I later explained this when she came home and asked me. I had planned on stopping in today to drop off a tip on their behalf when I picked her up. But to my surprise a 25%+ tip was added. Maybe you thought because they are two young girls they wouldn’t notice, or it didn’t matter, I’m not sure. It makes me wonder if this is common practice in your establishment. But, truthfully, such a shame. I understand tipping is customary but it should never be expected, or in this situation, fraudulently added.
They were happy with their meals and noted that the waitress was nice which is why I didn’t...
Read moreWalked in and was immediately sat down by the waitress/hostess. Ordered 2 waters... waters never came. A second waitress asked if we had received our drinks. The answer was pretty clear considering we didn't drink & then consume our cups as a meal. "No we did not" Wasn't very worried about it was having conversation(not justified but its whatever) Ordered sunny side up eggs, sausage/bacon/toast & HF (Well Done) put some emphasis on well done. Eggs were sunny side up sorta... over cooked. Bacon and sausage is microwave quality, and the HF were basically smashed potatoes cooked on a skillet. Prices are ridiculous for the quality of food. Oh well $37 on breakfast...
