New England Beverage — Local services in North Reading

This facility must be under new ownership. They used to be so nice but this time when I went in to redeem bottles and make a purchase the 2 girls at the counter started talking down to me telling me that they wouldn't take the bottles after the guy in the back said they would and then the owner said really rudely that he would take them this time only after a few more customers showed up. When I said I would just take them somewhere else he yelled out in another nasty tone ... Fine I was just trying to help you out. If he was really trying to help me out they would have just taken the 6 cans that the machine wouldn't take and not laughed at me for having a Sanpellegrino can in the mix. I went up the street to Eastgate Liquors and had a warm welcome from happy employees who gladly took the rest of my cans back. I will do all my shopping at Eastgate...

Its to bad such an excellent place has gone down hill. I live local and have always made purchases from New England Beverage do to its convenience and service. But I have noticed the prices are now 10 percent higher than other stores and the service is lacking. I don't consider them a redemption store any more, they are not registered. By the state bottle law, retail stores that sell a product must accept it for return. On a recent visit, if i did not purchase and they would not accept my bottle return. On another instants, If their automated redemption machine rejects an item you must go to the counter where they call the manager and you may get rejected or have to bring it back later when the manager is present to see if he recognizes you as a good customer. Don't waste your time here when you can go to a place without all the hassle...

This is a decent neighborhood liquor store. Their beer selection is unlimited, where you will find quality craft brews and seasonals. They have a fairly good beer selection from all over states like Lawson's, Maine brewing company, Pipeworks brewing co, wicked weed brewing, stone brewing and some well known labels from the area. The selection of wines and top shelf whiskey labels, however, is quite good. And there is no need to review customer service, it's excellent and great effort👏🏼. I wish I want one of everything from the store to taste🙂
