Five stars is tough to give any place, so I'll give this four as 4.5+ doesn't exist.
This is a classic neighborhood sports bar. There's a TV on every table and pretty much everywhere you look. Two pool tables in the back dining area. A wrap around bar allows for about 12 diners/drinkers in addition to about 70+ seats at tables. Parking is plentiful.
I've eaten here and gotten takeout now many times. I've sat at the bar for a drink or two on occasion and chatted it up with strangers. The bartenders are friendly, efficient and knowledgeable about their craft.
The food here has been very good and, if you like buffalo wings, these are my favorite in the area (un breaded, skin on, well cooked).. The steak or chicken ceasar is good. The burgers have been good. The buffalo skins (Buff. Chicken on the baked potatoes half) are a meal to themselves as an app. The specials have been good.
The food is better eat in than take out, as the humidity of a container sometimes makes things soggy. That said, the wings are pretty much the same either way.
If you're in the area, SS&S is...
Read moreI'm a bad news first kinda guy: I wish the parking was better. Aside from that, this is a terrific place! The food is absolutely incredible, even more so when you consider this is a bar! TV's on nearly every wall.. Yeah, it can get busy and you have a little delay in food times and what not, but I'm not looking for perfection, again, it's a bar. The staff is friendly, even if you aren't drinking (let's be honest, some places resent your presence when you aren't having alcohol). And it's clean.. Clean like you want a place to be.. oh and try the steak tips, delicious!
I posted the above in 2014 and I’m updating the review to say, while the parking lot is definitely not changed, I had the opportunity to visit recently, about a month ago, so August 2021. And the steak tip salad is still amazing… The service was phenomenal. So if you have any interest in getting some great food with a great atmosphere, I strongly recommend you give this place a try. Read moreMe and my boyfriend (disabled veteran) were having fun until bartender had to make a comment. He has a service animal (ADA certified) and a comment was made about her not having a vest on which is LEGALLY NOT REQUIRED. We were in the corner of a dead bar with few guest in the restaurant. This whole time the service animal was laying under our table, leashed and quite. It's sad when a USA veterans can't go somewhere with a medical service dog and have a meal and enjoy it without some comments being made. I am shocked by this and will never return. The same bartender has made comments on how cute she is in the past with ZERO issue with her being there. I understand not everyone has a service dog but with someone with a disability this makes them feel unwanted and so judged. It's sad a fun night had to turn into such an uncomfortable evening. Truthfully so shocked and sad we even paid...
