I've been here a couple times. The people are friendly and helpful. Furthermore, the tamales are really fresh and taste similar to how my grandma used to make them. Lastly, it has a nice Mexican atmosphere. Overall, I recommend coming here for tamales. Photos below: 1. Tamales: chicken and pork 2. Counter to order 3. Outside view

Nice store. Delicious fresh (chicken-red) Tamales. Customer service is good, but they could use a little work. Would recommend. *Tip = Go earlier in the day (morning), they do get busy & crowded fast, especially around the holidays.

In the last month, the tamales have been meh. The masa is so dry, it taste like crumbs in your mouth. The carne has absolutely, NO FLAVOR. Bought today, need to put more of my hot sauce on them for flavor.

Without a doubt, this tamale shop in East Chicago stands among the finest in the area. Over the years, it has become a cherished culinary destination for me, a place that consistently delivers exceptional flavors and authentic Mexican cuisine. If you have yet to sample their jalapeno and cheese tamales, you are unquestionably missing out on a truly remarkable gastronomic experience.

The tamale shop boasts a longstanding reputation for crafting tamales that transcend mere satisfaction, elevating them to the realm of culinary bliss. Each tamale is a work of art, lovingly prepared with skill and passion. The delicate corn masa wraps around a generous filling of savory jalapenos and melting cheese, creating a harmonious fusion of heat and creamy indulgence. The first bite is a revelation—a burst of flavors that dance upon your palate, leaving you yearning for more.

To complement the tamales, I implore you to acquire a couple of tubs of their homemade pico de gallo. The vibrant medley of fresh tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and spices adds a delightful zest to the tamales, enhancing their already exquisite taste. The tangy acidity of the tomatoes perfectly balances the richness of the cheese and the subtle kick of the jalapenos, creating a symphony of flavors that will leave you craving another bite.

Trust me when I say that experiencing these tamale delights with a side of their tantalizing pico de gallo is an absolute game-changer. The interplay of textures and the harmonious marriage of flavors will transport your taste buds to a state of pure culinary ecstasy. The depth of flavor and the expertly balanced spiciness will ignite your senses, leaving you with a newfound appreciation for the art of tamale-making.

So, if you find yourself in East Chicago, do not miss the opportunity to visit this unparalleled tamale shop. It is a haven for those who seek culinary perfection, an establishment where tradition, passion, and flavor converge. Order the jalapeno and cheese tamales, savor each bite, and relish in the symphony of flavors that unfolds on your palate. And remember to indulge in the pico de gallo, for it is the perfect companion that elevates the tamale experience to new heights. Your taste buds will be forever grateful, and you will find yourself thanking your lucky stars for discovering this extraordinary...

I recently went in and got my usual dozen tamales with some of their guacamole and salsa, when all of a sudden I am being told that my EBT card doesn't cover the guacamole and salsa because "it was made that same day." Problem was it had no package date only a sell by and when I questioned her about it she got angry and started arguing with me! She charged me cash for something that is accepted with food stamps at EVERY other Mexican or general grocery store, except theirs apparently, at a time where some of us don't even know where our next dollar will come from?! I will never give them my business again I'd rather take the 10 min drive over state line and go to Calumet City local carnicería...

I really do love this business and their carnitas, barbacoa, menudo, tamales, etc... But their locale is just extremely too small. You get more than 7 people in there and fugghheddabout it! You're rubbing elbows with someone like they're your long lost cousin from Mexico 3 generations removed!!! Lol. J/k But seriously, I love this place, i just sometimes get claustrophobic if i go at the wrong time and it's incredibly busy. And if the parking lot is full and there's really nowhere else to park, you swear some Sundays you're out there avoiding a game of 'Bumper Cars' b/c some people don't know how to act/drive. Lol....
