Have you ever showed an employee on your cellphone a picture of precisely what you were looking for? And never looked at what you had until you were about to use it? That's what happened to me!
I was in Indiana and sought to take advantage of the lower taxes. Anyways, I showed a picture of the white porch and deck paint to the homedepot paint employee. I specifically told her that I wanted the pure white. Apparently she gave me gray. (She never gave me paint sticks). I was literally stirring the paint, ready to paint my deck when I began to wonder why the paint was gray. To put it in a nutshell this became a major waste time and energy for me. Yes, I made the mistake of not double checking, however, I regard the situation as being alike to asking a so-called expert for advice and following it. Apparently stocking your selves is more important than taking care of business with customers! This so-called expert handed me the wrong cans of paint that caused a major ripple effect to me: 1) I was dressed and prepared to paint; 2) it was the only cool and less sunny of the week; 3) apparently homedepot doesn't do exchanges, thus, I paid more for the correct paint in Chicago.
To that end, I prepared myself by researching every aspect of my project. I don't normally shop homedepot, despite being a customer for over 20 years. I researched what would be the best porch/deck paint. My research lead me to behr paint, which is only sold at homedepot. I initially was going to go with Dutch boy (menards). I tracked the weather to determine the best day to paint for me. My bottomline is that I didn't get what I asked for, and because I was specific, I thought that it was...
Read moreManager at the Hammond Home Depot went above and beyond for the costumer next to me returning items with no receipt but when I was trying to return a factory damaged item with a receipt and was fed a mouth full of lies and about sent off, until one of HER employees stepped in and simply scanned my items for the issue to be resolved. She was more worried about losing money on her “day” rather than the satisfaction of the costumer and also the ethical decision. I was those gonna be forced to drive or pay an almost 100 dollar difference in which the manager was gonna have no issue letting me pay on an item she had not yet even scanned. I don’t know how she got into her position but I hope someone above her is close by when making decisions like that in the future or there will be a lot of costumers getting scammed by her laziness. Did not step away from her computer once to assess the situation I don’t know if it’s from minimal training or pure laziness but it didn’t matter to her because I was the one paying for it. Will make the drive 10 times out of 10 to go to the Schererville to not deal with such incompetency. I’m beyond thankful for the employee that made everything right and saved the day however management...
