Great Valley bowling Alley in North Versailles is a nice large place. I forgot to count how many lanes there are, but the Talley board above each lane has been updated to an electronic tally board. The only manual control is typing in each player's name, and the computer does the rest. Each lane is polished to a high shine, and unlike the good old days, renting shoes cost each player $4.00 for people under 65 and $3.00 for 65+. This, of course, is extra when renting the lanes. For snacks and sodas, player's may bring their own or purchase from the many vending machines located at the back of the place. Lockers are also available, as are bathrooms and a small amusement space. Don't expect friendly staff, there was none available when myself and our church were there. There are tables and nailed down chairs at each lane, and children's lanes are specifically done for complete bowling pleasure by kids. Balls can be found on racks 4 racks high, with weight from 5lbs and up. It is very colorful and easy to remember which color you've chosen. There are some people who will come from other lanes and pick up your ball and walk away with it. This happened to me. I had to follow that person, confront him, and get my ball back. It was a fun...
Read moreWhat a $hit hole. When you pay to play you just expect the equipment to work. Since you are after all paying to use it. Definitely not the case here. Stopped in the bowl a few few rounds with the family. They had a "special" 2 rounds for 35. First round and very first bowler the ball jams. They rest it and the 2nd player goes, now the pins won't rest. This routine went on AFTER EACH PLAYER. Half way through the very first round, we go up to ask for a refund. I didn't want to change lanes for the fact that people around us were having the same kind of issues, just not as frequent. The kid behind the counter informed me that he can't give a refund because we got the "specials". All he was allowed to refund was 5 bucks for our inconvenience. Yeah okay. Do your self a favor and go somewhere else. The red flags where clear as soon as you pull in the parking lot. Save your money and yourself a headache and go to one of the multiple bowling alleys in the area who actually take care of their facility and care about their...
Read moreSo on July 26, 2015 a man and his 2 children (rare right?) came in to bowl. He was surprised that the counter person stated that even the children needed to utilize bowling shoes while bowling. The patron stated that he has been there on several occasions and was never asked to do so. So I understand about rules so that didn't bother me. What bothered me is that the person that told him to rent shoes was also allowing other individuals to bowl in sneakers. And to top it off, the counter person began bowling with his sneakers as well. Not seriously bowling but bowling just the same.
I have pretty much had my fill of this establishment for discrepancies in refusing to oil lanes before our small league bowled but oil the lanes right before a larger league bowled. I rather give up the sport I love than to compromise...
