Gives the LGS a bad name. Every single purchase and pre-order I have made from this store has had some sort of issue. The first snafu resulted in the store having to honor an incorrectly priced item--the Ravnica Clue Set, which they had incorrectly undercharged (which was the right call, and the only reason I made subsequent purchases) The second gaffe came in the form of a complete communications breakdown around pre-ordered commander decks. When I called after I had heard no update on my order, which the store had no problem taking payment for--yet could not update the order status; I was brusquely informed that my order was available--even if their system neither reflected that, nor had anyone called me to tell me my (paid for) product was available. While in the store making a purchase using our household Store-Rewards account-- I (an AFAB Trans person) was asked if I wanted to have my purchase kept from the record so that "my husband didn't know I was buying him gifts"...when the cards were, you guessed it--for me. A MTG player in my own right. I wish I could say this was the only example of being treated differently for being an AFAB player in the store but--generally the atmosphere was pretty uncomfortable. TJ's in Milford has a MUCH more welcoming environment for AFAB and Queer people, but I was lured in by Tarkir Commander deck prices for yet another purchase...This time we got a call to come in and pick up our decks. However, when we arrived at the store to claim our $250+ worth of product...the staff, who were already rudely speaking about another customer nastily told us that we couldn't pick up our decks without participating in the store's pre-release event; something that wasn't mentioned when we were told to come pick up our product. When we mentioned this, the clerk behind the desk sneered "You could pick it up IF you were doing pre-release" several times instead of apologizing about the store dropping the ball on communication YET AGAIN, nor did he tell me when we actually CAN come pick up our product. My husband "thanked" the man for wasting our time. Nail in the coffin, never spending another penny here--you...
Read moreMultiple issues after only finding this store a few years ago. Pretty much have had issue with each pre-order experience. My Preorder experiences have included: incorrect pricing issues they had to honor, no communication for pickup and orders that still show "pending processing" months after pickup online, false statements of pickup times with extremely rude staff who will laugh at you because you were told to come in by the same staff that very day, and finally sexist staff that will assume your must be shopping for someone else other than yourself if you look like a girl. There are better local stores, shop elsewhere.
Edit: I had a long chat with Chris about the issues, Chris both acknowledged these and apologized, and I respect this along with his future efforts to work with his staff to do better. I don't know that I'll be back soon but I'll certainly consider giving them another chance after some time for growth. Hopefully those efforts provide a better experience to others who may not have had the chance to share...
Read moreAs self proclaimed nerds we anxiously awaited the arrival of Great Stories in our little town. We were so excited to find our own little slice of comic book paradise right in Uxbridge. Over the years the store has grown and moved locations but only bigger and better things have happened each time. The friendly staff is always there, they know most people by name even though they don’t all visit as much as they used to. Even during the uncertain Covid times they were there adjusting to the times and making everyone feel safe and comfortable. I look forward to their move to Northbridge in the plaza with job lot and shaws. I can’t imagine all the awesomeness they can fit into that space! A must visit for all your...
